Secluded Coastal Camping with the OEX Bobcat 1 UL (2024 Edition).
Friday night, after work why not head out on a secluded wild camp on the North West coast in the OEX Bobcat 1 UL inaugural outing!
In this video, I dive head first into the world of ultralight backpacking and camping, well not quite yet, I just actually managed for the first time to get a tent into my backpack which is a Survive The Night first! Armed with a lethal amount of gear again! I pitch up on a tiny stunning coastal peninsula.
I'm very excited at the prospect of spending my first night under the stars in the litest tent I own, the OEX Bobcat 1 UL, showcasing its features, performance, and suitability for little solo me.
I've got a bag full of food I have to get through and a main dish I have no clue what it is but who doesn't like suprises?
We have another episode of Tails From The Tent of how I actually got into all this outdoor malarkey and we have a visitor from another galaxy, in the shape of some hideous bug! Answers in the comments if you know the name of it.
I do hope you enjoy this video, I know I did making it! If you did, please think about giving it a thumbs up, if you really enjoyed it, a sub would be awesome but what really helps me and the channel out is if you can share this video to like-minded people, people who enjoy our great outdoors! After all, it's free!
To stay up to date with the videos why not hit the notification bell, that way you won't miss up and coming prizes but most of all... The new videos each week!
If you would like to help the channel out a little further by throwing a few quid/dollars at us for fuel so I can reach these amazing locations, then just click the link below which will take you to the "Buying Me A Coffee" page where you can donate.

May Bug! Big buggers! We.once had a lad had a few too many and fell asleep in his tent so we opened his doors and put all our torches in his tent to attract them. He woke up at 3am screaming with dozens of them in his tent and hundreds of moths. We were mean when we were young. 😂

You are very welcome! And I am thrilled that you have the HTC vive headset. I started out with the basic one and within three months upgraded to the pro and didn’t lens mod on it. if you have not done the lens mod and you have either the original or the pro, you really need to do that. Oh my word it’s amazing! No more god rays! I decided to get the quest two and completely beefed it up to where It’s a really nice headset for a travel headset. I bought it even though I’m adamantly against quest and meta-! They’re ruining VR for so many by buying up the companies and only producing software for their headsets. Then when the HTC vive XR Elite came out, I was in line within the millisecond to buy that thing! I love it! Not enough games for it, but it’s excellent otherwise! So cool that you love camping and gaming! Very grateful for your videos too. Keep them coming!

Great videos… Thank you so much! I play virtual reality games… Not pancake games. I bet you would absolutely love half-life Alex and games like that in VR! Totally awesome. Playing in vr is such a completely Immersive experience. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. Of course, I am Personally incapable of playing any FPS games… Just not at all in my heart! Lol kind of a bummer Because so many games incorporate fps now, but it is so much fun doing things in virtual reality. I’ll be taking at least one of my headsets camping on my next trip. Possibly 2. One is totally virtual reality and the other one has augmented and mixed reality. It would be great to play some of these games with the back drop of wilderness in mixed reality and augmented reality scenarios. Totally cool that you’re a gamer! love your videos! I found you through Simon, a bloke in the woods from the fundraising canoe trip you did in Scotland in 2022. Absolutely stellar! What a beautiful trip! I hope you Continue doing those fundraising trips. 🤗🤗🤗

CAMPING TIP Mate ⛺🌳Looks a good spot mate.. But, ,and Im trying not to be a killjoy here, nor am i a paranoid health and safety geek.. . But, those trees you camping between look dead. We called these 'widow makers' in the Army as they ,or it's large branches have a habbit of falling down, like the one you removed , no matter the weather, falling down onto campers ..Hence we trained to avoid camping down near dead trees or trees with loose/ Damaged branches . Just something for you and your viewers to be aware of for future reference. Prevention is always better than a cure i believe..A tip to prevent creepy crawly bugs, insects, squirt some Jiff lemon juice in the vestibule area, and sleep entrance. . Look forward to seam seal video mate 👍

@@AntSurviveTheNight Hi mate 🙂..To be honest mate, and with up most respects to you and your fieldcraft/bushcraft knowledge. I say after re watching the video, and seeing some leaves very high up on them, then I believe them trees are not dead yet, but definitely dying..ie: Look at the shape of them from the roots/lower tree upwards..There trunks bent, broken branches/ lack of branches, a huge broken branch that you removed, a lack of many leaves. It's summer ,not autumn now,so the tree should be full of branches and leaves, bottom upwards. If that tree is Alive and well,so is Elvis Presley mate 😆.. I'm 60 , nearly 20 years of Army Infantry experience all around the world, incl in jungles, forest areas, in all climates.Bring taught by local fieldcraft experts.. As well as many years wildcamping.I know the difference between a dead or dying tree to a fully live one.. And those trees are definitely dying. They taken a lot of punishment weather wise, too much. Hence lack of branches, leaves below that have no doubt fallen at some stage. My main point was to bring it to the attention of other campers, for safety reasons, which I do whenever I see a video of them camping very near to dead, dying trees.Just so they aware of risks. It's actually one of the most common causes of injuries whilst camping. So me personally,I would have completely avoided camping near them mate... More so due to the fallen branches, around the immediate area. One huge one you moved yourself, that would have sent alarm bells straight away to me. Anyhow, looks awesome area, and thanks for seam sealing video, I'm one of those who have made a mess when doing it, so thanks for showing the best way to do it.. 👍🙂

@@AntSurviveTheNight the only slight concerns with this new bobcat is 1, the 1500mm HH rating, as it's 1500 where they say things are considered waterproof, so would like to see a good rain test with it and 2. The lip/hood above the door doesn't look like it sticks out much, so would be interesting to see if water dripped into the tent from there, or into the porch area. But quality looks superb! aye it's not bad here, although I head to the mountains in summer if I want to camp as it's too hot down at sea level but I'm not complaining 🙂 ATB

@whatsnottohike Hi again buddy, yeah I'm interested too to see how it copes. The material is said to hold up very to rain but don't worry, you'll get a full test from me. I'm not one to take this out in horrendous weather as its not built for that, forecasts will be checked but if it looks good and then changes for the worse and its not shown on the forecast that's what I want, I want to treat it as though I'm out on a multi day camp where things can change with a drop of the hat. It's a spring/summer tent, I know this but it will have a true honest test and review I can assure you buddy. Yeah, I'll be having a look at the rain flap, I want to see if it comes over the door when it's partially closed. Ahh sounds bliss mate, the perfect life eh! Good on you.

It's very thin Steve but you can't see through it. I'm out with Leon this weekend so when it's dark I'll get that question answered for you pal

Looked lovely there mate!. Where did you get the egg ring?? If i ever see you I will come and say hello. That quilt looked comfy as !!. Iam going to get the One Tigris down quilt for this summer. Now iam not a drunk, who drinks till passing out.. I do tend to move around a lot more in my sleep ( seems that I do dream after all). Take care out there.

Hi Ant, just interested, i was out walking on sat and have got a bit on back of leg and couldn't find any tick, although i was scratching it, so not sure if i may have scratched off! Feel ok at the moment, so maybe over reacting! Tks Gary

@garyfoster7748 Hi Gary, chances are it will be just a midge bit up your pants leg but if it's bothering you just keep an eye on it. If you see a red ring appearing round the bite then give your doctors a call. You see, I knew it was a tick which panicked me but I'll stake money on it being a midge pal.
