Thanks for this video and your comment on Tiago Forte book. I’m new to person information management and in the process of setting up my own. You represent yourself very well and wish you good fortune.

Good insights, K. Darin! Another point that I find missing is that some information are action-oriented, but yet may also be related to Areas, which can be useful in the future as well. Sometimes, after Captured and Organized, I would execute Projects, and put them to Archives once done, but needing to go through all the Action Oriented Notes and Distill to Resources or into Hub Notes can be quite tedious.

This is indeed true! The way I solve that problem currently is, when executing on the project, I created a separate note right of the bat to contain information that I think will be useful again. For example, let's say I have a Project to Raise Fund for my company, all information will be contained/connected to that "project," but the evergreen content, such as Market Analysis, will be created as a separate note. So when I archived that project, the evergreen note about "Market Analysis" (which is related to "strategy" area) will still be there to be leveraged again in the future. Hope this helps. If you find other ways to solve this please feel free to share :)

Thank you for this video. I adopted your Productive Thinking Methodology and tag my notes with note type. I‘m now wondering how it is possible to integrate „trivial/everyday“ notes (and not only notes about growth information) in this taging and folder structure? It would be great to use the PT-Method for the growth information too. How do you handle this? Thank you very much.

Thanks so much for your comment! I record the trivial/every day stuff in a “daily note.” More info about the daily note here (4.05) kzbin.info/www/bejne/an_Qq2muisSAi6ssi=4axmAh-KslMUuywF I refer the daily note as a “fleeting note” in this video: kzbin.infowzjyslxXaWc?si=6hGzUdmqKe-lYWYZ Hope this is helpful!

@ Thank you so much for your reply/help! I also use daily notes. My problem is more regarding finding these informations „burried“ in daily notes again later and how to be able to query them with the dataview plugin. (E.g you write a short entry about a beautiful place you‘ve visited in a daily note). Another thing are notes about something I own (information for devices for example, buying date, guarantee date etc.). It makes not much sense to have them in daily notes, but they aren‘t reference notes either (since I don‘t „consume“ them or they don‘t talk to me 🤔)?

Excellent video, addressing a sticking point I’ve been feeling when trying to use PARA to manage my growth ideas. Question…you made the point against using Obsidian Canvas for Scrintal. How are you using both Obsidian and Scrintal, as there seems to be a lot of overlap between them? What information do you put in one versus the other?

Thank you so much for your comment Charles! I am actually surprised that no one had pointed out the weakness of PARA for managing ideas yet. I’m glad that you resonate with this video ☺️ Regarding Obsidian Canvas VS Scrintal. For me personally I mainly use Obsidian for my personal knowledge management and experiment using Scrintal when i need to collaborate. However, I can see Scrintal being perfect as the main app for personal knowledge management for some people that dislike the complexity of Obsidian.

Hello, Thank you for sharing your insights. I'm working on a similar project. My current system in Notion is struggling to manage the organically growing body of knowledge. To handle this, I'm organizing everything I learn on a timeline in Miro. My interests fluctuate daily. One day I might study the Vedas, the next the Industrial Revolution. Some days I delve into Buddha's teachings, others I explore Socrates'. Interestingly, by using a timeline, I can visually place these ideas in their historical context. It's helped me quickly realize that Buddha and Socrates were contemporaries. Miro's infinite board lets me connect the knowledge I'm placing in time with my reflections. This has greatly improved my understanding of influences, sparked interest in certain eras or thinkers, and overall has helped me better absorb and understand knowledge. Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for the comment! Yes, Notion is pretty limiting and not so visual, unlike Miro. If you use Miro I think you will LOVE Scrintal. You can use the link and code below to get discount: Link: scrintal.com/?YT&PNS&A10406&d=DARIN10 Discount code: DARIN10 (Valid only until Feb 20, 2024)

Your approach seems more natural for the way I process information. I've read Tiago's book and adapted Obsidian to PARA, but I have an internal feeling that it's a struggle for me, constantly wondering where to place a note. At work, I noticed that my method aligns with the atomic approach (Atomic Notes)-breaking everything down into small elements, thereby reducing mental blockages. Here, I have an issue with PARA... It seems to me that your approach could help in building my Second Brain. Thank you.
