@@KatanaYurr Think Will might be right. Only thing is that a few others did it longer. Like Kenny.

My God, I'd forgotten how much heart is in Harrington's voice . Incredible passion right there.

They have the best sound I ever heard, period. No affectation. Just men singing perfectly. Of course, Harrington. No knock. I sang with my dad and my son, at different times, over forty years, often with pairs of brothers. It is a strange thing. The other thing is that my son and I both grew up in barbershop homes from very early. This is a gift from father to son. Similar vocal apparatus and ways of speech count. The Schmidt Bros taught us how. But how many families can find four boys any more? The Schmidts had six. All sang in the quartet at some point. They were completely interchangeable. A marvel, indeed. A shame. The day passes so quickly when enjoying that sort of relationship. Indeed, so do decades. I would not miss a moment for the World.

I doubt there will ever be a quartet better than these guys. Watching them sing ballads often almost brings me to tears..

It doesn't get any better than this: one of Foster's best ballads sung by one of my favorite quartets.

Beautiful! Why don't more quartets sing with legato like that? 3:15-3:22 is one of the prettiest and deadliest barbershop slides I've ever heard. Wow.

My first favorite quartet (until GHG grabbed that position for life) Remember how this song was stylistically controversial back then? Preservation was still our middle name...

The free vocal quality married with a total connection between performance and arrangement make thee guys the best, and I remember the Sidewinders, the Four Renegades, The Confederates and the Buffalo Bills. The current mooing sound just doesn't do it for me. If the vocal quality isn't real, I can't get behind it. These guys were the pinnacle, as far a I'm concerned.

The only quartet that ever rang shit like these guys is Joker's Wild, who could blow up sound systems. I think their crazy tenor and crazier bass used to lock so perfectly that overtones upon overtones built until a certain kind of unity was achieved I've rarely experienced or even heard. These guys are next.

There is a CD, but I couldn't find it anywhere. So I emailed Doug Harrington asking if he knew where I could buy one, and wouldn't hear of it; instead he mailed me one (from Sweden!) Maybe you'd have similar luck?

God, I love this performance. They are so unique. Their crazy morphed vowels that just ring like a mofo mixed with the artistry. Ugh. So good.
