Reviewing a RS250, without giving us the noise and the rush of it, is a big fail. Sorry guys but this was a disappointment. I got really excited for this one too. I have a strong love for the high strung two stroke bikes :)

My first “big” bike! 2000 model so one of the last ones, Peroni Nastro Azzuro colours. Snapped four throttle cables, three clutch cables and the kickstart fell off, but any excuse to bump start it like a GP racer. Now worth 3 times what I paid for it. Thanks for taking me back 👍

That’s my era! I had a 750 GSXR which was a mean machine then but a friend of mine had one of these, I nearly shat myself the first time I hit the powerband! I had CR125’s and was expecting a bang but that 250 exploded! Lovely days.

Dreamed of one of these back In the 90's. I was on a suzuki gp100 at the time. Like many moved up the sizes. Finally got to the dizzy heights of kawasaki ZX7R. Loved it, stable, predictable and fast. Id owned a yam RD250, that was really fun, always smiled, That was it, sold the kawasaki and brought a 1995 aprilia RS250, was a 15'000 mile ragged machine. 6 months later, i'd made a flying machine and... Its hasnt got the refinements of todays missiles. Yes its just 250cc but wow, its fantasic, light nimble always makes me smile and the smell is awesome. I absolutley love it when people laugh at its scooter tick over, but its funny when i go past changing up, making their 1.5 ton boxes look very slow. Each to their own really.

We had a 250cc learner restriction over here in Oz, and of course the RGV 250 was the gun bike. I wasn't even thinking of getting a motorcycle until a mate took me for a ride and then left it in my parents garage for a week for me to drool over. Now I've been 2 wheels only for decades.

Instant like from me. But an 250cc 2-stroke can indeed still hang with the big boys. A couple of years on a trackday/race event an 250 nsr I think it was gave my on my D675 from -11 and many other even more powerful bikes including some 1000cc a good beating. Sure on the long straights we would eat the little sweetheart up but on every other sector it was we that had hard time following the 250.. Wish bikes were as light as those good old 2 strokes.

@jackkrinkov92734 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons they stopped racing two strokes in GP is because they peaked out in horsepower and 500 lap times were not getting faster. The 250 lap times were getting closer to the 500's. The 500's were also becoming unrideable as the hp numbers climbed and more and more riders were getting injured.
@derf94652 жыл бұрын
Compared to the 1980's unrideable machines the later 500's were more refined and stable. Just that those who were bought up on the twist and go four strokes In various classes really struggled with them.
@Jason-bc9eu4 жыл бұрын
They are still fun bikes that handle really well. No they won't keep up with modern bikes, but that's not the point momentum and stay above 8000 rpm. Mine is just being finished after a major rebuild, looking forward to the smell of burnt oil!! If you get chance buy one before they get even more expensive.........

The bike Show could have done a waaay better job if they had contacted Phillip de Gruchy from Mr Aprilia. He would have given them unbelievable information about these bikes with history etc. He has an unbelievable (and very original) collection that would have been incredible for this insert. Missed opportunity :( Maybe The Bike Show can do a follow-up?

Panthera make a 550 single cylinder 105hp motor that is begging for a suitable frame. Zabel(KTM) make a 700cc single. There's plenty of options for 2t bikes for riders who prefer the rush and lightweight speed.

Nick Price that’s a fairly bigoted statement of yours. What exactly is BS about it? Blasphemy offends believers much like calling people from other races offensive names. Why do either Nick? I understand that you don’t believe but can’t you just respect those that do? Tolerance can go a long way to uniting people or do you disagree?

Fan of the channel and the bike but please just consider your religious viewers when choosing metaphors. There are much more creative and less offensive ways to discribe the appeal this bike had other than likening it to looking into God’s eyes. Thanks mate.
@IgnitionBikeShow4 жыл бұрын
In fairness, it's a metaphor relating to the old mythical gods.
@johnlaw57624 жыл бұрын
The Bike Show very well but South Africa is not a nation that believes in mythical gods...the majority of believers believe in one God and is unlikely to relate such metaphors to anything else. I felt some offence and so might others that why I made the suggestion to just be considerate of what other hold sacred
