Focus on any experience that you have related to safety, shift work. Their biggest concern is your ability to adhere to the crazy schedule that the extra board provides during your first few years.

I am about to start 12 weeks of class and training in Chicago for the UP, What will be the hard points to the training, I suspect learning the signals will be the hardest for me. What signals will they be and where can I start studying them ?

The hardest part is adjusting to the schedule. You will struggle with signals for the first few weeks but once you finish your initial testing it’s all about working this crazy schedule and doing it safely so that you make it home to your family

It’s a screening tool to eliminate candidates based on basic questions. They just want to know that you can handle the schedule and have a plan to make the adjustment to your lifestyle with your family

I’m 22 years old, my in person Interview is on Friday as a conductor I’m excited, nervous but mainly excited. Got any tips? I’ve tried to prepare for the interview questions as best as I can. They just send an email saying “after the interview process and with careful consideration, we will not be moving forward with your application” Like atleast tell me where I was wrong. Not enough work experience? Not professional enough? Man I really wished they would tell you why they didn’t except you. But that’s me. You can probably have a better interview than me. GOODLUCK

Not anytime soon. There are literally YEARS of containers sitting in port that need moved. Because gas prices are so high rail is a cheaper alternative than trucking at the moment 👍🏻🚂
