Oh man, I LOVE the dump trailer for hauling wood or logs. No more having to be careful knocking stuff off the trailer trying to unload with forks or by hand !! I am getting a little spoiled by all this pretty orange paint Tom. LOL

Nice seeing you again Wendell, the Kubota with grapple is huge time and effort saver
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
Yessir Jan...it sure is a back saver too !! With push button control, it's a little hard to control smoothly, but still there's nothing better for what I need it for.

Man that grapple is nice Wendell. It takes the work out of it for sure. Take care.

I'm glad I didn't buy a small one for the little B3030 now. It'd be too small for this 5400 and probaby get bent up and warped pretty quickly. I thought a 66'' moderate duty would work well for what I do. The real job was researching the various styles and quality. So far, so good though.

Beautiful red cedar for lumber 🪵. 😊
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
Yes, for sure Leonard. The smallest stuff of course will be used to stack logs on or split wood in the wood shed.

With a little more seat time that grapple will be like a third hand. You’ll be amazed at what you can do with it. You’ll be able to pick the fleas off the dog with it. 😁 cool video tractor man.

Hahahaha....fleas off the dog....good one !! I really wish it was hydraulic stick control instead of electro-hydraulic. (If that's a word) LOL

Great video Tractorman, I'm jealous of that tractor. From your Alaskan cruise shipmate.

Good Morning Patrick !! Thanks for stopping in today. We are also glad to see you made it home safe. We sure enjoyed the conversation with you two !! I hope all is going smoothly at work.

I may be looking at a new tractor before the summer's out, I've narrowed it down to three makes at this point. Ah time will tell. Nice watching your new Kubota and that grapple doing yard chores with you Wendell.
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
Well Reg, good luck with whatever you decide. But if I can ask, what 3 are your top choices ?
@regsparkes65074 ай бұрын
@@tractorman4461 Because of Dealerships selling and servicing tractors in my immediate area, Mahindra, New Holland and Kubota ( at this time, and in no particular order of preference) I am looking at what they call 'sub compact' tractors with approximately 20 - 25 horse power. Cab and front end loader ( of course ) are essential.

I have an l4740 kubota with grapple ,forks and bucket. By far the grapple is on the tractor the most. There is a learning curve on the grapple. The third function with the button control is difficult to open or close slow but with some practice you learn to bump the buttons to get the desired results.
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
I can believe that its the most used. Since I put it on, I've not taken it off yet for the forks or the bucket. But its also kinda nice to have the little B3030 for a lot of the bucket work too. Even though its got a learning curve, there's nothing I'd rather move material with, for sure.

That Juniper doesnt have much rind (white Sap Wood) ought to saw up and make some really nice boards!
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
Oh heck yeah, these are mostly small but that's the good thing about a bandsaw. You can get the maximum out of a log.

Oh, I think anyone would be spoiled if they had a hydraulic thumb on their machine 😁
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
There is a monstrous variety of grapples to choose from too. I wanted a wide opening and moderate weight. Some of the super duty grapples can hit 1,000 pounds or more !! So far this one is perfect.

I had lost you in the shoal in here but now here you are , did you trade all them old tractors for this brand new machine. Nice and free cedar….CHEERS

Hahahaha....naw, I don't think you'll ever get ALL the rust outta my blood. I really am enjoying something with some fresh paint though !! I might be getting spoiled Gator. Thank you for visiting today my friend.

The carriage will be going back and forth quite a bit to make any lumber from such small diameter logs. Hopefully you have a high dollar niche market that makes it worthwhile. I think you'll get the feel of that grapple soon enough. You're fairly smooth on the lever and before long you won't have to even think about what you're doing, muscle memory will take over. I have to admit, I'd sure like to have that unit and the problem of learning it.
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
Most of these small logs wouldn't be worth the time on a circle mill, but that's one of the benefits of the band mills. Essentially every 5th board is free....but you gotta WORK for it. I AM really enjoying the grapple for sure. Especially scooping into the slab pile behind the mill or moving lengths of pole wood for the buzz saw.
@SK-tr9ii4 ай бұрын
@@tractorman4461 ...and every fifth board is free money Honey, that's why we have the mill and this fine tractor/loader with this time saving grapple...there'll be something extra in yer Christmas stocking this year Pookums!

It's the same in southern Missouri it's ceader don't bother calling it anything else lol that grapple would be vary handy to have around looks like it would be a great help moving logs around
@tractorman44614 ай бұрын
I've never actually heard anyone around here call it anything but red cedar. They advertise their tables, adirondacks an other outdoor furniture the same way too. Nothing better than a grapple for moving logs. Well, a thumb on an excavator would be a close second.
