Vertigo doesn't affect eyesight, it affects one's sense of balance and triggers nausea as the brain uses nausea as a tactic to mitigate poisoning. A common cause of vertigo is poison, nausea triggers vomiting to expel poison. This does not impact eyesight at all. In fact closing ones eyes will usually worsen the effects of vertigo.
