I was in Britannia Rusk plant for 3 months maintaining their machines. It is distressing to see that cleanliness is never thought of in bakeries who cater to the customers who set up their plants near homes. I have just seen Iyengar's bakery. No doubt they are famous for their bakery products. I was shocked to see their manufacturing facilities which are in deplorable condition. I don't know how the health inspector official allows such products to be sold to innocent customers!

hlps112 there's nothing "cultural" about this. this was complete and total disregard for your craft, product, and customers. It was appalling even by 3rd world standards. putting food in pans coming from a dark corner floor, wiping said pans with a soiled rag that was lying on... the floor, stepping over food, lying on dirty cardboard on the floor with filthy sandals, sprinkling god knows what all over them. It was out of their way to be this utterly disgusting, I'm sorry.

It might not be par with French and American standards but this is the reality. This bakery has been thriving for a long time without complaints so they must be doing something good. I know some parts of the process may need improvement (especially placing the finished product on the floor) and some criticisms are good for awareness but when people comment about not having gloves while baking...um, stop the ignorance and see if any baker actually puts on gloves while mixing dough even in fine dining restaurants. Maybe you guys need to think twice before you eat chicken McNuggets and American hotdog. At least I see real flour in this video and maybe you guys need to do a bit of traveling not only in the posh parts of the world to appreciate this. Bottomline, the comment section makes you say anything you want but don't be full-on nasty about it. These guys are making a decent living the way they know it and if it needs improvement then be a bit considerate with your language.

Such terrible safety and health conditions!! I've seen much poorer food stablishments working in ways that ensure healthier and safer conditions. How about turning off the kneader to handle the dough? Making tables, no matter how humble so you don't have to dump your products in a cardboard in the floor next to your filthy shoes?? Even the paddle from the machine beside is lying on the floor and the appearance of the place in general is dirty!
