Even if you put aside "healthy", though it's extremely clear that sugary cereal isn't even if other things may be debatable, heavy cream has a LOT more calories than milk and when we're talking about weight gain or loss, it's calories that matter first and foremost*. You can't loose weight on a diet that provides more calories than you need even if it is technically healthy and you'd loose weight eating straight sugar if you ate less than you needed (you'd also soon suffer from deficiencies but that's another matter). *There are some things that make it easier or harder to consume less calories things such as cold food needing to be warmed up but that effect either aids you in not consuming so many calories or has a tiny impact.

@stauffap Жыл бұрын
I think, that it's not just about not reading the labels. A lot of people seem to believe false information about losing and gaining weight. The woman in this episode for example believed that hormones can make you gain or lose weight. Other people believe that it's just about genetics and "in the family". One of the weirdest beliefes was a black woman, who thought that after working out you can eat as much as you want and it won't count. A lot of people are just denying the simple scientific reality of weight loss: If you consume more energy than you body needs, then you're going to gain weight. Which of course means that you have to know how much calories you need and how many calories you're actually eating.

Interestingly, nobody was fat into the 1980s. It was very rare. In a whole school, you might have 2 kids notably obese. You can tell this is true in mall or concert footage of back then. These days, I'm seeing quite a few kids and college kids a good deal overweight. That wasn't the case 40 years ago. I personally lost a stone (14 pounds) by getting rid of sugar, wheat, and dairy. I try to not eat for about 17 hours and keep track of all of it in a food journal, all weighed and measured. Yesterday was my 1st workout in a long time! I was 171.5 at 5'5. I'm now 157.5. My scales are both acting wonky, but it's right around there. I weigh me like once a month. And measure all the parts and write it down. I was a solid XL, now about a large. Fighting weight for me would be about 125-130 if it were solid. I look starved at 117. I don't think I've ever been smaller than a 29 waist (by the tape measure, the size is a complete lie, which you learn when you measure with a tape measure). But tall shoes and being busty will hide much of that (Dolly Parton)

William Hoover I know plenty of fatties who are single! Marriage has nothing to do with it and laziness has everything to do with it. Being diligent and if you see weight creeping on by weekly weigh ins and keeping a true food diary, then it should be no problem staying slim. Also it's about choice.....choose never to let unhealthy foods cross your doorway into your home is a must! Then an occasional meal out, holiday or celebration shouldn't be a problem! It's not marriage!!

With someone for four years. Still a skinny lil bitch. Haven’t gained any weight. Just be with someone who’s motivated and keeps you happy not stressed out 24/7. That’s when people eat and gain.
@rachelrosen55016 жыл бұрын
unlike the other commenters, I see the positive in your message. As one ages, it takes real discipline to stay fit and healthy. Unless one's partner is totally committed to the very same goals, they will enable one to eat poorly and slack off on an exercise routine. Especially if you enjoy exercise. I am a cyclist and in the summer, I am married to that bike and my other complains.

I remember when I was underweight and fed up with my thinness, I drank a total of a gallon of milk and ate sugary cereal with every meal, and within 3 days, I gained nearly 15 lbs. Later I found out I was lactose intolerant.

It's sad how so many overweight people are so ignorant of the food that they eat. There just isn't a culture of eating appropriate portion sizes and matching caloric intake to activity level, which for many is pretty low.
@ronia31815 жыл бұрын
Yep. The number of people I've met that are very overweight or obese, yet claim they only eat 1000 calories a day.... No, you don't! People have no idea what portion sizes actually look like

How are so many people so misguided when it comes to food and eating? And the people who are, why aren’t they more curious about learning what does go in to their bodies? Everyone should have knowledge about nutrition and health. It should be in all schools from the youngest grades by law.

I don't know how these people are still in denial AFTER recording a food diary on their OWN. Just that alone slaps me in the face to make better choices.

But that's an issue with studies where people record what they are. The data isn't reliable as people tend to make their food intake sound more virtuous.

Grrr it annoys me when shows consider fruits and veg to be the "healthy" option, when its only part of a meal. If you gave them a choice between a wholemeal tuna salad sandwich and a deep fried chicken burger with mayo, I'm guessing there'd be more kids going for the tuna option than just fruit or veg BECAUSE ITS ACTUALLY A MEAL. Be realistic and compare meals with meals.

so the problem is that people do not really know what's in their food. Just because its cereal I can have a whole gigantic bowl of it? uhm, no! This series really highlights the lack of education that people have about food and nutrition. If schools etc tackle this topic as well it will be of great benefit.
