When he died, she and her friend were at the wake and her friend asked her if she really put all his money in the casket with him. The wife said, "Yes, I did". When I was learning to play hockey as a goalie in high school, my grandfather visited from Arizona. He came to practices and laughed quite a bit as I fell over and over. He got a lot of joy out of those times and said he was proud of me. When he died not long after, I got a puck from one of our winning games and Dad put it in his suit coat pocket. I hope it still makes him smile all these years later. It does me.

My daughter's best friend was a little person. She stood only 3 feet tall. Because of her physical condition, there were a lot of things she could not do so she took up the coloring books that are made for adults and she did some magnificent pictures. When she suddenly passed away, her mother suggested her friends might like to put coloring pages in her casket. I understand there were tons of them.

My great-grandmother lived through the Great Depression and all her life she carried a folded up dollar bill tucked away in her wallet, so she was never ‘completely broke’. When she passed, my mom and my aunt tucked a folded dollar bill into her hand before she was buried.

My son's great grandmother was a special woman,and she loved him dearly. I loved her because she always saw the best in me. I served her her last meal of ice cream. When she said she didn't want it, I knew it was her time. I told her to not worry I will do everything she had asked of me. Her funeral was beautiful. I placed a small flashlight in her casket and her favorite picture of Carlos. His father asked why the flashlight ? Haha told me I don't like the dark, and she didn't want to get lost in it on her way to the Light. That was 25 years ago this year.

I put a fishing lure a hat with my grandfather when he died. He always wore a hat. And loved fishing it was the last thing I got to do with him. He died only 2 days later of a massive heart attack. Everyone was asked what they wanted as a memory of our grandfather I said I only wanted his fishing pole the one he used all the time. I still have it to this day. I don't use it but I know it's here and always reminds me of him.

A few years before my Mother passed away I hand made her a Quilt for her birthday. She never put it on her bed or used it because she was afraid it would get dog hair on it. I ask her to please use it because that is what I made it for, but she never did. So when she went into a retirement home I sent it with her to use, after she passed away I had it placed in her coffin with her to keep her feet warm. Because she always had cold feet. My brother was buried in his favorite football jersey and cap and many other football items for the team he loved for over 40 yrs.

I am enjoying these keep up the good work. I want to share what my beloved cousin was buried with, he died at 35 of cancer in 2004. Coach Walt, as he was known, coached high school wrestling. His boys won state in 2003 which was the last year he could coach them. When he died they all came to the funeral and we the family didn't know it until it was our time to take that last look and goodbye but those boys had brought their metals from state and laid them on his chest. When they closed his casket for the last time it looked like he was wearing armor. My uncle's dad was a brick layer by trade and when he died my uncle (by marriage) had a model of a brick laying job that he put in with his dad. When my uncle died we put in his favorite NASCAR model he built and his pride and joy (a picture of a bottle of Pride and a bottle of Joy) that he would ask everyone if they wanted to see a picture of his pride and joy every where he went then show them that picture.

When we buried our Dad, each of us kids put an item of special meaning in his casket. My older sister was a pilot, so she put her pilot's wings on Dad's suit lapel. Each year at Christmas, our Dad received a Play Boy calendar, so my older brother put a small calendar with naked women in his casket. My twin sister, found a flashlight just like the one that our Dad always used to carry in his back pocket at night when doing chores, so she wrote a poem and put it inside the flashlight and put it in his casket As for me, I had a miniature sized stuffed bear that I always took with me on all of my trips, and I put that in his casket for one last trip. My brother in law who was in the Air Force had some coins from different countries he had been stationed at, and he put them in Dad's pants pocket. No one, not even our Mom, knew that we had done all of this. So when our Dad's casket was being moved to be put in the hearse, those coins fell out of his pocket and clanged onto the bottom of the metal casket! Needless to say there were a lot of shocked people! All of us kids, were laughing so hard, and our Mom was shocked and demanded to know what we had done and when we could stop laughing we finally told her what we had done.

Aunt Juicy {i couldnt say her real name when i was learning to speak so i called her Aunt Juicy} told mom she would haunt her if she didnt. When she passed and mom went to the services and did as she had been told, much to my grandmothers mortification, mom told her point blank she didnt want to be haunted so mom did her due diligence, she opened a can of coke and did as she had been told and saw Aunt Juicy had made several people promise this to her because her casket was lined with open coke cans! God rest her i hope shes still enjoying those cokes up in heaven!

I buried my mum with her kindle, tablet and phone along with her chargers. Didn’t want her getting bored and incase she wasn’t dead (she was) and so she wouldn’t give dad a lot of grief
