Its very telling that Syama's influence wasn't felt again in 40k until AFTER he left GW to freelance and was contracted by Blur for Secret Level. Games Workshop is truly incompetent when it comes to handling talent, and just in general. Though, you are the only damn comment I've seen mention Syama across many reactions that doesn't try and paint him as a god of animating, and ascribe the entirety of the episode to his effort alone. He was the layout artist, an important role, but its infuriating watching people worship him and ignore the rest of the Blur team that did the animations, sound, and so much more for the episode. I like his work, he knows his craft, but the damn worship goes too far and I can only imagine how insulting it must be to see work you spent months busting your ass on, potentially years depending how far back this was planned, being entirely attributed to a freelance contractor.

The Space Marine episode was centered around the concept of fear and how it shapes us. We experience that through the eyes of Metaurus, a Bladeguard Sergeant of the Ultramarines. When selecting for new recruits, he came upon a unique child, a child filled with pain and rage, a child without fear (Titus). All other recruits begin from a place of fear but are conditioned and trained to overcome it. At a fundamental level, however, they are still human. They still err and they still can experience fear and doubt. While Metaurus loved Titus as a mentor might, he came to be afraid over Titus' potential should he fall to the corruption of Chaos. What would he become? What could that child he trained be capable of? We see his concern over Titus' aggression in the moment when he charges the heretics' commandeered tank. Later on when they've delved into the caverns to plant the beacon that will signal the vessel in orbit to destroy the Chaos relic beneath, we see the Sorcerer appear. He effortlessly dispatches each marine by entering their minds and embodying their fear, literally using their fears and doubts to kill them. The first marine fears that he could falter from some internal weakness, so his armor rips him out of itself and crushes him. Metaurus fears that Titus' nature will lead him to betraying him and his brothers, so the Sorcerer manifests as a corrupted Titus and stabs him. Then, the Sorcerer enters the mind of Titus but he appears in his true form because there is no fear for him to inhabit and Titus marches towards him unshaken and breaks his staff which shatters it in the real world and stops the time freeze spell. The end is Titus refusing to allow his mentor and brother to die and dragging him out of the cave before the orbital bombardment hits to destroy the Chaos relic. Metaurus, likely dying from his wounds, remarks to Titus that they fulfilled their duty in completing the mission and that it is time for Titus to leave him to which Titus responds "not yet, old man." Metaurus then looks on in pride at Titus, the child without fear, and sees his true potential: a loyal soldier whose lack of fear provides a resolve against corruption and a steadfast loyalty to his brothers in the face of overwhelming odds.

My understanding of the Secret Level series is that all these animations are based on the respective IPs of each episode not necessarily confirmed extensions of them. I think that's cool because you can the artistic freedom to push things in directions that are not 100% canon but the IP holders can still expand off that if they want. Like the 40k one, you can put that as a direct sequel to Space Marine 2 or you can say it's some unrelated mission or it just ignore it, and Blur gets to tell a nice story. Also, might as well say it because someone is Syama Pedersen, the guy that did Astartes, worked on that episode as a layout artist. They are the people that translate the story board process into the 3d bit. Honestly a very important job but really Blur has upwards of 300 people working for them. Still, cool they hired him. Shows they care and are smart enough to scout good talent.

Really loved the Warhammer reaction. So the guy that was in the coffin is a Psyker. They are both dangerous but also useful. They can enact their will into the warp and use it for powers at their disposal. What you saw was a registered psyker, who job it was to keep the marines safe from the forces of chaos. Hence why you briefly saw the shield around the marines and protecting them. When the deamon was close, the marines were still active, but once the Deamon took out their Psyker, they were at it's mercy. Another cool hint, if you look back in the footage, the eyes of the men were dilated and wide. Titus eyes never dilated or widened since he had one single goal. His hatred for the deamon. And that is what kept him alive. Great reactions once again.

Titus is now an anomily because we've now learnt he has never felt fear and cannot feel it. Which despite all their bluster space marines are capable of fearing they just dont recognise the emotion anymore, In the book Saturnine, Rogal Dorn (Primarch of the Imperial Fists) before the Siege of Terra, describes how he is feeling to a human and the human tells him that may be fear you are feeling in which Dorn smiles and remarks on ‘Fear… So that’s what it tastes like. It's not that Pac-man, called Puck in this due to being called Puck-Man originally, is is running the place as it is that they are trapped in a maze and are trying to get out of the maze. Hence why the 'Chosen' said before he died, "I'm not the one trapped you are." Because Puck is indeed trapped. Also the whole repetition line is basically how gamers do things over and over again, repetition, and getting better with each new try.
