I can relate to a certain degree. I spent 10 years giving my most to this organization. I ended up pushing my relatives aside after my mom and siblings stopped going. I always believed that I would gain 10x the family I distanced myself from because thats what i was taught. After i became inactive (not disfellowshiped) i realized the harsh truth. I was left a lone in this world and the elders didn't bother to come visit me. To be fair they only showed up twice at my house, but that's it. Took me am entire year to transition from that lifestyle to a new one. I am very happy now. This is just another religious organization that targets peoples emotions.

Thinking of it that way, what was wrong with the attitude of the other brother upon seeing the father running out to meet the prodigal before he even got home, putting the robe on him and laying on a feast with the best animal slain for him? Was he not jealous, not wanting his brother to be forgiven by the father, even trying to get in the way of his father's love towards the other son? The prodigal was never asked to prove himself to the other brother, he just walked towards the father and got a welcome. Just as the best animal was slain in behalf of the young man that returned, who or what was slain in our behalf?

he's lying about the prodigal son because the only one reason the prodigal son came home was he had spent all his money and he was starving. When his father saw him down the road he didn't know if he had changed or had humbled himself all he saw was his son and they ran into each other and hugged each other before they even said a word so how could they sit there and say that the prodigal son had humbled himself when his own father didn't even know if his own son had even repented he was just so happy to see that his son had returned to him period!!! I know a lot of witnesses they get that parable wrong they always say that the prodigal son had repented and the father knew it. But if you read the actual account you'll see that he saw him way down the road and was happy to see him that far away just to know that he was coming home.

Im the granddaughter of an Elder an ex-presiding overseer. When I was 16 I started noticing things that were off in the religion. Mainly if you start thinking for yourself, start actually analyzing the Bible you start to see the inconsistencies. If you choose to point them outfor clarity, your met with gaslighting. this Blind Faith that has them under this illogical Trust. There's so much fear-based logic wrapped around religion. I got to an unbaptized publisher and was very zealous for quite a few years. The psychological and sociological effects of being shunned from your family are tremendous. you have the right to think for yourself ,to challenge these clearly unjust affences against you. These are very good people who truly believe that they are doing no harm. The unfortunate truth is they definitely are. It's based around fear-mongering. There's so much human connection to be had that isn't had within the organization. This cult is no better than Scientology or any other fear-based religion. I'm a Psychology major and the more classes I take,a light bulb has been shined on my existence and unfortunately it's pushed my family away but I feel so much more free and open I have a higher understanding of myself and a higher understanding of just how much illogical practice happens within the confines of religion in general. The truth is you really don't need a congregation or religion to be connected to Jehovah, the universe, however you want to phrase it. Jehovah lives within all of us. Give love to every person and every experience. Have the knowledge that each experience is teaching you what you need to move forward towards purpose.that is what will bring you home -as if you ever even really left. So the congregation shunned you, Doesn't mean Jehovah did. Pray, meditate, ask yourself how you feel ,what you believe in, and know that that's Guided by Jehovah. I'm sorry for your troubles darlin. Best of luck. My advice just let it go of what doesn't serve you. You do not need their validation when you already have Jehovah's!

My god... This is essentially the same way I feel now... I was a witness for 21 years dated a girl and had a terrible breakup enough to make me go inactive for 8 years then my dad died at 26 got disfellowahiped when when I was 30 but before getting disfellowahiped I was very humble and willing to repent but the elders decided I wasn't sensear enough (probably because I met them that day so they knew nothing about me) I felt like it was the easy solution for them though. There is a lot more to my story but long story short is I'm kind of having an identity crisis because all my life I have known jehovah is the truth but now I don't lol... I know God's true name and Jesus name so I guess that's a start...

Here is an advice: Make sure to get custody of your kids 50/50. Spend all of your energy (and money getting a lawyer) on that. This could mean getting a suitable place to live and making some life changes if needed. You may even have to get two jobs to pay for it all. However, wasting time by putting efforts in the JW will only increase the problem. You have obviously been flagged and getting out of that shadow, even if you were the perfect JW would take years! So, stop wasting your time there and get the custody of your kids.

Steve, please understand that in all my years of chatting with JWs (who knock on our doors or set their literature stands up around town), I have only ever met one that was open-minded and had any common sense. That may sound harsh, but quite frankly, they are not allowed to think for themselves. The moment anything is questioned, they revert right back to "the Watchtower says..." and most of them serve out of mandated duty by the organization. Who wants to be dis-fellowshiped? It's lonely and hard (as you well know) and so the cult uses fear to control their members. I am a born again, Bible-believing Christian and I have always encouraged my kids to ask lots of questions and search for the truth (not just believing what the pastor or Sunday school teacher says). If ever a church or organization is discouraging and silencing those who are asking questions and truly seeking answers, GET OUT!!! The Bible can stand scrutiny, but JWs obviously can't.

The moment they are made an unbaptised publisher, the gloves will come off. All rules go out of the window when they attempt to remove my children from me. At that point, everything becomes game. I won't wait until they get baptised, it's too late. When they are made an unbaptised publisher, that's when I know they will be properly groomed for baptism and the clock is ticking. I have been in Telford all of my life since the age of 5 and they have never had a single active 'apostate' that they have had to deal with. I don't know of a single case. I have time, money, circumstance and motivation to become a thorn in their side for a prolonged period of time. I will do what I've seen you do and more to try my best to make sure my kids do not commit to this.

Hi Orpheus. John joined our congregation and was there for about 7 years before I was DF'ed. Personally, I got on well with him. We would often discuss archaeology books that we were reading or other titbits like that. He is the most studious and knowledgeable Witness I have ever met. He has an encyclopaedic mind and can recall information at will. So it amazes me further that he is unwilling to 'take me on' as it were and try to answer my questions. Because the elders know I am very similar in nature when it comes to study, they know they can't send any joker down to see me because they know I will be better prepared than your average Joe. There are a couple of elders in Edgmond who would have no chance explaining the most basic tenets of their faith. That's a true story. They will know whoever they send will need to bring their 'A' game. I think their knowing this side of my personality is a big part of why they don't want to come. I think they are thinking 'We have served in the same congregation as this guy for 20 years. If STEVE is adamant that he has found information not in line with WT teachings, there will probably be something in it. I am probably safer not hearing it.' They would never vocalise it, but that's my guess anyway. Any local elders that may read this and feel different, please feel free to contact me. I don't want an endless debate, I want answers to the best ability that you can provide. The truth is the truth in any subject. It will shine and stand up to any amount of scrutiny. You can afford to go out on a limb or put your head above the parapet if you are 100% convinced you have the truth. You'll back yourself all day long. Truth cannot be changed. Steve - If you're anything like me, you already know the answers to your list of questions. I have several family members at Elder level, and above. Neither would ever entertain discussing anything that questions their faith. Never! Like Gurk, if i proved to my family beyond doubt of the many teaching errors across the decades - and today - it wouldn't alter their course of action. This isn't testimony to it being the Truth,. It's more to do with the high-control nature of the Org. And let's be honest, even if it did impact on their belief, the high-control nature of the Organization means that the penalties are high. It's much easier to remain inline and build on what i see as blind faith. The reality is, broadly speaking, Gurk did answer your questions. He made several remarks about 'mistakes'. He clearly knows the answers too. He knows there are no answers that will satisfy someone asking them. He knows that he doesn't care about those answers. The details around the 'Truth' and some fundamentals [as you've clearly established] do not matter to a practicing Witness. For me, it makes the constant studying of Watchtower material somewhat immaterial. As Gurk points out - his faith is based on feeling, senses and experience [brotherhood, unity, his love of Jehovah, and Watchtower seeming 'best fit'] A countryside public right-of-way becomes a walk in the wild if all the signposts are found to be wrong and the Council tells you it doesn't matter. Were you end of up on this incorrectly sign-posted walk is anyone's guess. And Lord help if if those signposts keep changing. At the moment, the one person I can relate to above all others in the Bible is, sadly, Pontius Pilate when he asked with resignation "What is truth?" Spiritually, I'm gutted. I really thought I had the truth and not just because we called it that. To find out after 30-odd years that it isn't the truth, is a hammer blow. I am very reticent to 'sign up' to another religion now. They all proclaim to have truth. I presently think there is good in all and an element of truth in all. But absolute truth? No, I don't think there is absolute truth. The JW's ask "If you leave the truth, where will you go. Just like Jesus asked Peter." They are right. Where do you go? I am lost. I go nowhere. But it's better to walk completely alone trying to find and serve God than to do it based on blind faith, fear and guilt. If I pay a price for not being with the right religion come Judgement Day, then so be it. But at least I will be able to look God in the eye comfortably and say "I tried my best to find and serve you." I find solace knowing that I continue to try.

Like I said at the outset, Gareth is a good guy. I played football with him every week for about 15 years. He has been raised a witness, was a 'rebel' in his youth, was wishy washy in his twenties and got married. He had two girls and then got his head down and 'progressed' well. He became an elder over time, went through a phase of pushing his new 'power' around, but came through it into a nice guy. His whole life, like mine, has been WT-based. The thought of his speaking up and taking my side is not an option for him, even though during that conversation I recognised from his face and body language that he felt sorry for me. Any question that even sounds remotely against the organization is viewed as apostate. So many Witnesses walk around with their heads buried in the sand like clueless flamingos, and it's sad. Many of the questions that are posed have nothing to do with apostate agendas, but are valid concerns that should be of interest to anybody, inside the organization or out. You don't even have to engage in a discussion WITH an apostate to wonder about such burning issues as the acceptance of blood transfusions, the covering up of child abuse cases, the suicides that are happening as a result of disfellowshipping. You don't have to become swallowed up in "apostate propaganda", but at least open your eyes and not shut your mind off completely whenever a challenge is raised against Watchtower.

RunFromTheTower I have sat on this video for 6 months, waiting for their reply. They replied, with silence. They branded me an apostate without even discussing subjects with me. You can tell from the wording he uses. But they do apply their training, avoid giving direct answers to questions and when one elder is pressed on a subject, the other chimes in with another question. It's very clever and wasn't apparent to me during the discussion. I have watched this video sooooo many times and can see exactly the techniques they employ.

This is AMAZING because I had a very similar experience! I went to my local mosque and confronted the Imam on several of the religion's tenets. I told him all about Mohammad's many acts of horrible violence and asked him to justify them. I asked for the proof that Mohammade even is, in fact a prophet. And I pressed very hard about the idolatry of kissing a black stone, the cruelty with which Mohammad said unbelievers should be treated and lots of other thorny issues. Rather than sit and chat with me, he told me to get the hell out! Intolerant bastard. So then I went to a Orthodox Jewish synagogue and tried to show the Rabbi how Jesus was clearly the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah. To my shock I was met with still more dismissal and intolerance. Can you believe they both had the temerity to suggest that I was being inappropriate and even rude? They even spouted the same trite lines about how I was entitled to believe and advocate whatever I want, but not to be a member of their congregations while doing so. There's a lot of this sort of meanness and intolerance going around these days.

In my opinion, they are window cleaners and postmen who have found a modicum of 'power'. It is in the name of God too, so they hold on to it. Some of these men are very intelligent and capable people, but this has been inhibited by the attitude towards higher education. So being appointed a MS or Elder helps them satisfy a natural desire, the need to feel accomplishment. Many have not climbed a corporate ladder, or owned their own business and REALLY grown it. Both of these give a sense of accomplishment among your peers. So when they sit in elders meetings, it is satisfying their innate desire to flex their 'accomplishment muscles' and feel a sense of power. To them, although they don't realise it, elders meetings are like board meetings. They get to make decisions and set some rules, but they also follow direction and enforce rules and company policy from 'Head Office'. A lot of it is not their fault. They are as blind to it as I was when I was in. But for many, because they have never had the opportunity to flex their muscles in the corporate world, they do it in the congregation.

While it is not nice to hear such experiences, it's comforting to know I'm not alone now and other people have faced what I may have to face in the future. They cannot stop me seeing the kids legally until they are old enough to decide for the, selves that they do not want to see me. That thankfully, is a way off yet. My kids KNOW they are dearly loved by me. My boy is a very grown up 9 and has a crystal clear grasp of what's going on. He is conflicted beyond belief sadly and it makes me angry. He should just be allowed to be a boy, not worry about his dad being killed at Armageddon because Witnesses tell him that's what will happen if I don't go back. All I can do is give them my love and know that I tried all avenues to maintain my relationship with them. Even if they do commit and cut me off, I will always wait for them and welcome them with open arms if they decide to reignite our relationship. Fortunately, I'm not grudge-bearing or petty by nature and I think that will help. I'm their dad, I'm tied to them with a biological bond not even God can break. My love for them both is as binding as our DNA. I may well make other videos. One about my personal history may well give this video more context.

Steve, this was painful to watch because of the unloving attitude of those elders and the mind control displayed. Are you a Christian? When I left JW many years ago and faded, I did not know what the bible taught and I spent many years isolated and without direction. When I came to Jesus a few years ago I finally found out what the bible was teaching me. I found out who Jesus is. So now my channel seeks to help JW and ex JW to realise they can have freedom. All I kept thinking while watching this video is this: If Jesus were to walk into a Kingdom Hall and nobody knew it were him. He would be shunned and disfelowshiped immediately. I could just picture the elders judging him and saying to one another that "he is wrong and doesn't know the truth", yes the elders are some of the most judgemental people I have ever seen. They will talk say and do anything to get you into a hall. Once you are in there and you have more questions and you dare to ask, your whole life will be stripped away. This organization is truly a dangerous cult. We can only pray for them to be exposed for who and what they really are. This organization needs to be exposed and needs to be broken up before more lives are damaged.

Brother Steve, haven't you done enough research to understand that there is a god behind the curtain, (Think Wizard of Oz) ( It is not Almighty God.) The composite man behind the curtain are 7 men in New York City who have duped you and 10 million others. The only answer is found in scripture. If you would ask God, Father in heaven, to reveal the real truth to you, you would read and meditate on His Word. These men do not have the answers. The reason my parents had come to be JW's is that they had asked questions in which had been answered to their satisfaction. Also one thing I wanted to tell you is that you can even go to court and ask that they not allow your son to be baptized. because he is not of an age of consent. A lot of people don't know that your child is going into a contract. baptism should be illegal for them to go into that contract without both parent's written permission or if they're under age of consent where they don't understand what it is they're doing. If you have a chance to talk to your children and explain to them about baptism and their young age and tell them that if they ever do anything wrong that they're going to end up in the same situation you're in they will be disfellowshipped. can you imagine if you're 9 10 11 year old child is normal and they do something wrong at 13 or 14 they're going to be disfellowshipped from the congregation and they're going to have nobody to talk to no friends nothing no family tell them tell them the truth of what it means to be baptized and go to court and explain to the court of the land what it means to be baptized it's not like it is in other churches where you get baptized and you pledge your life to Jesus and you go on about your life and if you sin or whatever you don't have the same repercussions that you do if you're baptized as a Jehovah's witness and I think the courts would be on your side and find that pretty appalling. and get an injunction that they are too young to make a decision on their own about getting baptized it's a contract it should not be legal and binding I don't know if anybody else out there has thought of that if you have let me know but I really think that baptizing under the age of 18 is horrible they talk about the Catholics baptizing infants and young children and they blast them for it, well they're doing the same thing there's kids as young as six they're getting baptized it's wrong Jesus was 30 years old before he got baptized and he was perfect and he knew the truth so use jesus's example wait till you're an adult and can make an adult decision and get an injunction and stop it!!!!and Tony Morris with his threat of oh well if you're not going to get baptized then I guess you don't get your license. to me that's bribery that's not showing a kid's heart that he really wants to dedicate himself to Jehovah. it shows me that a kid wants his driver's license and if he can't get his damn driver's license he's going to have to get baptized so you can. what kind of motivation is that? I mean come on now, the governing body needs to use some damn common sense!!! Oh that's right they don't have any!!
