Thank you for your kind words regarding “The Champion Mine”. I was part of the group that spent hours upon hours helping restore the camp. I helped paint multiple cabins. The upper outhouse is pink because we had enough white paint for half the building and enough red for the other half as, well, shit happens and it ended up pink. My friends father welded several of the stoves and hiked them up. My friends mother made the curtains. The shower works (1990’s at least) great. Best view of any shower any ware. We also put in the water system. Reroofed the wood building with the metal sheets because the wood shingles were rotten and rain was getting in causing damage. The wood kitchen stove was oil but got converted to wood burning and works well. I’ve baked cakes in it. The back room was the cooler. The old dump is downhill from the shower about 100 yards and fun to poke around in. We’ve found lots of stuff for the museums in it. There is also one more building north of camp. It’s the wood house building. If anyone goes there be kind and keep it nice. Happy hiking.

You and your friends did an amazing job I can't believe you did all that work. It must have been very hard getting all the materials up there. I hope all that visit keep the camp pristine. What a beautiful place to vacation bless you and your friends. Watching this made me feel very happy that there are people like you out there. 😊

I was there in the early 1980's. It's good to see the rocks I lined some of the trails are still there! Yay! I stayed in what you called the bachelor cabin. I was there 10 days and also used that outdoor shower. I packed in my food and welcomed another group that came the day before I left. We had a great evening visiting and I showed them around after breakfast before I left. We had fresh coffee and pancakes! Life Is good...

WH, great video. What amazing people that did all that work so others could enjoy the experience. Would love to know more about the two people that did it. I'm surprised you didn't comment on the fact that they left reading glasses behind. I have never seen cabins so well stocked that were not businesses. It is hard to imagine how many trips it took to bring it all up. You've done some hard hikes; but, can you imagine bringing up all those tools and screws, nails and bolts are heavy in bulk.

Just a super trip!!!. I hope you didn't have to back out! Thought you were going to Roll the TRW! Never say 'whoa' in a bad spot. You are a fearless driver. That timbered building with the long trays was for storing and examining Core Samples after they did exploration drilling. Cores are about 1.25" in Diameter and come out in long lengths from a hollow drill bit. They either sent them to 'head office' or they crushed them and panned the remains. 1oz. per ton is a great gold mine.

Another incredible find, so wonderfully presented. I found a website about this place. I understand now why you’re so scant on details. I was envisioning mere vandalism, which can be costly to fix, but people have burned down some of the cabins as well. So pathetic, especially where folks are working so hard to preserve it for free public access

I looked andalusite up on Wikipedia and it is an aluminosilicate used in making furnaces and kilns. I can't imagine how the company behind this mining operation could have made much money on it, though. That might account for why those cabinet were in very good condition when it was abandoned? Wonderful video and thanks for donating your efforts to get there and back for the rest of us!
