Forgot to add, that i set GI clamp to lower value. Setting it to higher between 2-10 suites way more this material, everything bayond that number will not change look of that material and will slow down rendering time. Thanks @TheThebeep for noticing it!

I'm so glad you noticed; that's the main reason creating these tutorials is taking so much time for me right now. I've been working on reducing my foreign accent and even signed up for lessons with a voice trainer. I've looked into numerous video editing software options, experimenting with settings and setups, and I’ve been paying attention to even the small details-like making a checklist of things to include in the video, improving the pacing, and presenting my tutorials in a more engaging way. Your comment has truly brightened my day, man!

Thank you! Glad it was helpfull, it felt a bit too niche, but i think people enjoy filling gaps in tutorials on youtube!

@@NojsGraphics In terms of niche, Ive been trying to work out how to make a 'Mother Of Pearl' material for watch dials. 'Mother Of Pearl' is a popular choice for many luxury watch companies and this tutorial may help me crack this conundrum. Thanks again.

Thank you for another great tutorial. Keep going with Standard Surface, it’s robust.

I've never even realized that there's a standard surface 🤯 I have a Greyscalegorilla subscription and their entire materials are based on this material I believe, I've always wondered why their materials were built so differently

Increase GI clamp. You have it too low. That's why you need to increase Rays Depth so much.

Yes, i should have mentioned that, will add a pinned comment about that, Thanks a lot for noticing!

cannot add specular material layer at the very end. any tips?
@NojsGraphics7 ай бұрын
Hey! What exactly is happening? is material layer not showing up? is it just not connecting? can you give more details?
@dynamicshit7 ай бұрын
Hi, so the option for Material Layer is there but no drop down when I click it. Also Material Layer does not appear under Geometric Proper so when I try to add one manually there is no where to connect it! @@NojsGraphics

My c4d just crash whenever I try to create a standard surface material. Does it happen to anyone else ?
@NojsGraphics8 ай бұрын
Hello! I didnt had this issue before, try maybe updating both C4D and Octane to latest versions.

@@NojsGraphics OK thx I'll try that

If you don't have a single scatter node in your material, you don't need to change number of scatter bounces in settings, as this does not affect anything. Just an FYI.
@NojsGraphics8 ай бұрын
Hello! This material has a scattering, so Scatter Depth actually makes a significant impact on the overall appearance of the material. It doesn't strictly require a medium (scatter node) to exhibit scattering, all that is needed is a value higher than 0 in the Subsurface Scattering section of the Standard Surface settings.
