Great video.. I've been doing this. Another good one is for swing, put a rag or hand towel inside your arm and body as you are in your approach it helps keeping your arm close to body. Thank you for sharing, you're awesome
@timchadwick8245Ай бұрын
This sounds like a great idea but what happens to the towel upon release? Does it just fall harmlessly onto the approach? Asking because id like to try it as i tend to chicken wing it a lot
@louiemarcsalva5 ай бұрын
Thanks for this video. This video supports my self-discovered tip. When I was walking with my bowling ball trolley going to the bowling alley, I was pulling it while putting my two fingers (pointy and middle) behind the handle as to simulate and train my hand position to be always behind the bowling ball. Then I accidentally felt that if I position my pinky finger together with my ring finger, there is the tendency of the more to the side release. But when I separate my pinky finger from the ring finger plus put the index finger together with my middle finger, it trims my hand position to release more behind the ball for a faster hook response. Finally solved my chicken wing release. Or at least drastically lessened my chicken wing release. No more too much side spinning and slow hook.

Interesting, of all the videos I've watched I never realized the weight was supposed to be held by the index finger, not the 2 middle fingers. That explains some consistency issues I've been having and why my track is so high.
@janproshopchannel5 ай бұрын
It is very personal, everyone has a different hand position movement during swing. Since this movement is not stable, everyone has different weight support fingers.

After watching this video and keeping my pinky in and my index finger out (as opposed to both spread), my release felt more consistent, and i was getting more hook out of the ball tonight for league. New PB too!

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if this will help me stop tracking over the thumb with the yoyo release
@janproshopchannel5 ай бұрын
If you are tracking over the thumb, one possible reason is throwing hard and lofting the ball. Over slow turn will cause negative axis tilt, thus tracking on thumb. Try to practice a quiet release by letting the ball go earlier. This pushes tilt higher and drops the ball in silent.

Wow, im beginnerish bowler here thats been bowling for about 7 months now. Been working on my yoyo release and i noticed that the index and pinky position do change up the release a bit. I started keeping my index pointed further out and tucking my pinky in but didn't really understand what it did as I was so focused on releasing the ball right 😅 . maybe opening my pinky is better for my game as I usually try to play straighter

Now I know why I went from low tilt player to high tilt. Thanks a lot.
@janproshopchannel5 ай бұрын
Many reasons. Can only tell with your release video.
@timchadwick8245Ай бұрын
Im a high tilt player & have been unsuccessfully trying to be a lower tilt player for years so definitely going to try this. I have 2 balls drilled the same & same pin but 1 i can get a very reasonable lower axis rotation, the other no matter what i try has a ridiculous amount of axis rotation & is therefore uncontrolable at the break point. Axis tilt is about the same on both balls. Core??
@MrOsmodeus6 ай бұрын
i've switched to two handed and i've been trying to increase my tilt to get more length. i've been splaying my fingers wide apart to give myself more stability but this video has given me an idea to try out. i was previously trying to bend my wrist inwards more but that was heading towards a tendon injury
@Jesusfanatic07115 ай бұрын
Do you have negative tilt by chance? Many two handers do
@MrOsmodeus5 ай бұрын
@@Jesusfanatic0711 sometimes, i've mostly gotten rid of that as it's probably too far inside and more of a failed backup ball. i tried a few combinations of the fingers during practise during league and tilt was barely impacted while the ball twisting out of my hand became more likely. I need that stability without the third point of contact. so far the only thing that seems to add tilt is pulling my pinky towards my forearm but 2 days later my wrist feels like it's been run over by a forklift

If I put my pink out like that I roll over the thumb hole 😢 everyone is different but this doesn't seem to work well for me. I run into even more issues if I up my speed the ball will not read the pattern at all.

Does this also effect where your ball tracks?
@janproshopchannel4 ай бұрын
Yes it affects PAP
@Joshuaperalta84 ай бұрын
@janproshopchannel cause before it was tracking fine but when I just bowled today the first few games was OK but suddenly by the end it was already tracking on the finger or between the holes by the bridge. I threw the exact same shot and everything. So could it be just that I changed my finger position without knowing?

Bean bag is a terrific idea teach you roll ball down onto the lane not up onto the lane! Releasing the ball into a chair or couch teaches the opposite i found out. At the start of this video seems your confusing axis tilt and axis rotation saying want higher tilt your referring to axis rotation not axis tilt. you want to change your axis rotation which is the amount of side rotation the ball has to make it hook less or harder your axis tilt should be minimal only want high tilt for dry lanes or really chewed up lane's!

Thanks for your comment! Beanbag is a good tool to freeze the hand position before release point, even I throw it harder and harder. If you find something in bowling alley that stops your shot effectively and allows this finger-check, feel free to use it!
