Just left last week, and my honest review is a 7/10. The night life was lacking severely, the club was small, and the pools close at 8pm. The daily activities are very selective and everything else cost. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. Drinks were decent and the people were nice. Room service was good, ive read a lot of complains.

We have visited Secrets Akumal seven times, the last time was September 2022. In a nutshell it was abysmal. I gave it a two on Trip Advisor which broke my heart😢. Truth is truth, poor service, dirty room, broken phone and tablet, blood on the floor, no turn down service, tried for room service and two hours later, still no breakfast. My brother developed food poison post dinner. Made arrangements for a Bellman with four different people for a three AM pick up. Never showed, they sent him to the wrong room!! No thanks I can spend my money elsewhere. This resort is to unpredictable.

Just got back from this resort yesterday. Although the property is pretty, the beach is small but nice and the hotel room was large with a comfortable bed, we will not go back. The food was terrible. The only edible food was the breakfast buffet and some of the pool side snacks. Although the restaurants servers were excellent they could not make up for unseasoned, poorly prepared food. And do not spend the extra money for “preferred” status at this property. It gives you little more than an air conditioned lounge with a tiny selection of the same food served everywhere else at the resort and slightly better alcohol choices. Also, avoid the membership sales presentation if possible. It makes zero financial sense and is nothing but a time suck on your vacation. I also spoke with people who are members who said more than once that the promises that were made in the presentation are rarely honored. They weren’t happy. So…for service, I would give it a 8 out of 10…for dining I give it a negative 10.

Where would you recommend instead? Dining is important to us, and we want to find somewhere affordable with great dining options and food as well.

@@janelnghiemlee5805 honestly, I haven’t found an all-inclusive in Mexico that has good dining options. We have stayed at the JW Marriott and at the Ritz (back when it was actually a Ritz Carlton property) in Cancun and the food was really good but those are not all-inclusive. Honestly, I think all-inclusive hotels cater more toward the unlimited alcohol than the unlimited food. If you only plan to have a big breakfast at the buffet and then snack by the pool or ocean all day then this is actually a great resort. If you want to get dressed for dinner and have a culinary experience in the restaurants on property, don’t waste your money here.

@@janelnghiemlee5805 chiming in as someone who stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not have any issue with the food but heard from others that the seafood restaurant wasn’t great, and we weren’t going to fit it into our week anyways so it wasn’t a big deal. However my husband and I honeymooned at Sandals Royal Bahamian last year and although the customer service at Akumal was far superior, the food at Sandals was my favorite part! Something to consider if you’re a foodie. Both are great options, but I’d still say Secrets Akumal was a more luxurious experience.
