Regarding animals and bonds with their owners, there is a large monument in Australia to a dog that waited for it's owner to come home from world war I, on the spot where it's master had told it to stay, It's master was killed and never returned but that faithful dog stayed waiting in that place until it died some years later. Also, when we would go away for xmas, my childhood dog would escape from the friends house who was minding it and run 16km to check to see if we were home. A long way for a fox terrier.

Never heard before that porphyria might have been behind folkloric werewolves and only ever knew of hypertrichosis in this regard; the hereditary condition covering the whole body with fur. I was however aware that porphyria has been suggested as an explanation for vampire legends.

Did you ever hear about animal traits being passed on by ticks that had bitten other animals beforehand I have over 200 tick scars on my body, but I've never had any problems (except the 2 tick born illnesses) and I think that idea is just crazy.
