Can you also explain how smoothing also is considered on dyno runs . Ive seen some tuners run SAE ,Smoothing 3,4 or 5. Thanks . I liked you mentioning the tire size, sprocket size. Its like racing a dirt bike. Tire size/carcass construction/ tread pattern, rear sprocket size ,counter sprocket size, shock and fork settings make all the difference from one track to another.

Great Vid, Sandy, But a question here, " Wouldn't it be more prudent to have the rider sitting on the bike when the tune is being done?" That way the tune would be set up for real-world riding conditions. Ciao.

Good question! But I think as Dave said - he-does all of his tunes the exact same way.... So maybe we should ask why didn't he did do that initially many years ago...? I'll ask him next time I'm there...

The dyno applies a specific working load to the wheel. The computer knows what that load is while monitoring every parameter of the motor and exhaust makeup to establish a proper tune. Weight on the bike won't make a difference. The only parameter that it won't make up for will be the wind resistance. Hope that answers what your wondering

My thinking was the weight on the rear wheel might actually change the acceleration rate on the Dyno due to the increased load on the rear wheel-Tractive effort versus overall weight. .. So that said ..... How much wind resistance does John make if he is 300 pounds and rides like he stole it .... after Dave did the tune.. LOL Stay Safe.... Ciao
