I think the most popular and best-selling Finnish casseroles at the grocery stores during the Christmastime are carrot casserole ("porkkanalaatikko") and rutubaga casserole ("lanttulaatikko"). The Finns also like to make a rice porridge ("riisipuuro") with milk (inc. 3 % of fat) and serve it with cinnamon and sugar. A rice porridge is usually eaten around noon and long before the Christmas Eve's main meal later in afternoon. The rice porridge needs to cook over medium heat for about 40 minutes.

Many of these foods originate from Karelia from which the Finnish national epic Kalevala also originates. Imperialist Russia declared a war and annexed most of the Karelian region during the WW2. Russians then genocide most of the Karelians who stayed. The Karelian languages are mostly extinct.

Every major Finnish city have most likely restaurants that serve some sort of Chinese food usually as a buffet lunch.
