I notice interesting parallels between Ganesha and the Yoruba Trisha Elegua. Elegua is placed at the front door like Ganesha. All ceremonies begin by honoring Elegua first. Elegua is the one who carries the messages between Earth and the World of the deities. Elegua is associated with the mouse. Elegua is also the trickster who teaches humanity life lessons. He is the opener of the paths.
