Another school of thought says that there were three mountains in Lanka 1. Sundar Parvat 2. Suvela parvat 3. Neel parvat. The first one is the place where the meeting between Hanuman and Sita took place, the second one is the place where the soldiers assembled for battle and the third is the place where the palace was situated. Since the meeting of Janaki and Anjaneya took place in Sundar Parvat it was named Sundarakanda.

All were engaged in virtue. Rama was engaged in the kingship thus for ten thousand years." This was followed by PHALA SRUTI; धर्मयं यशस्यमायुष्यं राज्ञां च विजाअवहम् || आदिकाव्यमिदं चार्षं पुरा वाल्मीकिना कृतम् | पठेद्यः शृणुयाल्लोके नरः पापात्प्रमुच्यते || (Yuddha Kanda 128 Sarga 107-108 Slokas) "In this world, whoever person reads and listens to this foremost lyric derived from the speech of a sage, which is endowed with righteousness, conferring fame and longevity, fetching victory to kings and as written at first by Valmiki, that person is delivered from all misfortune." श्रुत्वा रामायणमिदं दीर्घमायिश्च विन्दति | रामस्य विजयं चैव सर्वमक्लिष्ठकर्मणः || (Yuddha Kanda 128 Sarga 112 Sloka) "On hearing this epic of Ramayana and all the episode of victory of Rama, who was unweary in his actions, a person gets longevity to life." विनायकाश्च शाम्यन्ति गृहे तिष्ठन्ति यस्य वै | विजयेत महीं राजा प्रवासि स्वस्तिमान् भवेत् || (Yuddha Kanda 128 Sarga 116 Sloka) "Whoever carefully listens to the epic in his house, all obstacles come to an end. A king conquers the earth. A person staying away from home, fares well." And it ends there. Therefore, the Uttar Kand was a later addition and Shri Ram banishing Mata Sita along with the whole dhobi and Shambhuka nonsense are all interpolations which totally contradicts the last few Slokas of the Yuddha Kand wherein Valmiki clearly stated that in Sri Rama's reign there were no premature deaths in his kingdom and that the people were endowed with excellent characteristics and engaged in virtue. Plus, Uttar Kand's writing style is of extremely inferior quality as compared to the other 6 Kandas. Even in the Mahabharata, Sage Markandeya narrated the Ramayana to Yudhishthira, which also ended with Yuddha Kand. In my opinion, Uttar Kand was basically written by patriarchal brahmins in the middle ages to show that women are only born to shed tears and to be sacrificed. Pseudo-seculars, atheists and fake feminists cite this Kand to cast aspersions on Shri Ram and vilify his image by calling him regressive and a misogynist.

Excellent review and analysis. Eloquent narration. Effective slide and picture presentation. You could have added one more point. There are 24 verses called “Gayatri Ramayanam”. The first letter of each of these 24 verses begin with “Beeja / Mantra akshara (alphabet) of Gayatri mantra, serially. And, each of these verses are at the beginning of every 1000 verses thus expanding to 24,000 verses of Ramayana. The last three of these 24 verses are from Uttara Ramayanam

After watching this and other videos on your channel, I can only say that words can’t describe my emotions and I have to meet you personally and pay my respect & gratitude! As mentioned in one of the comments, I always had questions (with negative undertone) regarding certain aspects of Ram’s character. Throughout my life these were neither answered by family members nor others and with my half-baked knowledge, I had created an image in my mind. Whether it was, अग्नि परीक्षा or शम्बूक वध, it was extremely easy for a layman like me to form preconceived notions. Objectively & critically analysing scriptures, although sounds straightforward, but it is extremely challenging, because one has to keep aside the emotions, devotion & preconceived notions! Because Rama and Sita were embodiment of supreme God Vishnu and his expansion Goddess Lakshmi... @Akhand Bharat Your information is totally wrong sir. I'm not sure where did you get such false inaccurate information in Vedas. You probably got them from some fake websites in online. Anyway, let me correct you... Association of Rama with God Vishnu is not a very recent phenomena at all, it's the most *essential* information about Vishnu because lord Rama is one of the most important AVATAR of supreme God Vishnu out of his 10 avatars. I of course have read Vedas what the Vedas say about Vishnu and his Avatars. That's why I can guarantee you that you are highly misinformed about lord Rama and his origin Vishnu. In the Vedas, Rama is not seen as any embodiment of Indra or Parjanya. This is utter nonsense because *Rig Veda 10.113.12 states:* Vishnu is glorified because of who and what He intrinsically is. Indra, on the other hand, is only glorious circumstantially. Even in the 6th Century manuscript, Rama was never been seen as a human being, but as an AVATAR of almighty Vishnu. You should think historically sir.

Everyone must watch acharya prashant videos and specially his video "shudra kaun" ? , Bhagavat gita , atman.That's why learning vedic scriptures and dharmasastras through the lense of vedanta/Upanishads is very necessary...Sudra is not any caste... sudrata in Sanskrit means a person showing trait of lower consciousness...The state of low consciousness is known as sudra...According to brahmasutra we all are born sudra (with low consciousness) ...Our varna is decided once we elevate ourself from low consciousness to higher consciousness... According to vedic scripture a sudra is one (not by birth) who is too much attached to his body and leads a life of pleasure , thinks too much about sex , consume meat , alcohol and remain intoxicated in worldly pleasures or in a straightforward way "Bhogvaadi"/Bhogi is a shudra who cannot think beyond body....And a Brahman is one who has attained high consciousness , insights on life , immense knowledge about the reality of our existence (atmagyani)...So that's why a person with low consciousness was prevented from using adhyatman to use it as a tool to indulge in pleasure .... shambuka was similar kind of person...He wanted to do tapasya with a motive of conquering the devaloka and wanted to go to abode with his body...So clearly he too much attached with his body..And his purpose of tapasya is not for tyag and betterment of society..He was using adhyatman to fulfill his selfish needs of ahankar...That's why he sambuka was called a shudra with low merit /consciousness....And in that yuga ..Due to this reason it was an punishable offense for a sudra (not by birth but because of low consciousness) to use spritualism to fulfill own selfish wishes...Though it is also mentioned in the same uttarkanda that in kaliyuga even sudras can do tapasya.

There are three things which I wanna ask just out of curiosity, Firstly, I have read the Uttar Kand in Valmiki Ramayana published by Gita Press. And the first thing which hit me was the poetic beauty of the slokas of Uttar Kand were highly inferior in compare to other Kands. You know Valmiki Rishi was superb at describing nature and we can see traces of it throughout the Six cantos, but the last canto doesn't have much of that. Secondly some people say that the phalasruti of Valmiki Ramayana which always comes at the end of a book is at the end of Yuddh Kand and they sight these slokas which are last two in the chapter, कुटुम्बवृद्धिं धनधान्यवृद्धिं स्त्रियश्च मुख्याः सुखमुत्तमं च । श्रुत्वा शुभं काव्यमिदं महार्थं प्राप्नोति सर्वां भुवि चार्थसिद्धिम् ॥ १२४ ॥ आयुष्यमारोग्यकरं यशस्यं सौभ्रातृकं बुद्धिकरं शुभं च । श्रोतव्यमेतन्नियमेन सद्धि राख्यानमोजस्करमृद्धिकामैः ॥ १२५ ॥ *Hearing this people attain to, on this earth, multiplied relations, increased wealth and crops, beautiful wives, excellent happiness, and the accomplishment of all desires. They attain to long life, health, fame, intellect, prowess, and good brothers. Therefore it behoveth those good men, who wish for prosperity, to hear this story perpetually.* And the third and last point is the Tilak Commentry on Ramayana authored by either Nagesh Bhatt or king Ram Verma. In the Commentry of Balkand chapter 2 shlok 43 it says, *उत्तरकाण्डं त्वस्य खिलम् । अ भारतस्य हरिवंशवत् ।* Uttar kand is khil bhag, like Harivansh is of Mahabharata. So, are there any counter argument to these....

Even I have heard other Sanskrit scholars say the same. The language of the first six Kandas is beautiful, while Uttara Kanda it is not as great

36:26 l there is a clear mistake here in the statement that both of these are direct translations of Valmiki Ramayan. Ramcharitmanas is not translation of Valmiki Ramayan. Instead it's actually translation of Adhyaatma Ramayan found in brahmavaivart Puran. Hence there are many points of differences between Valmiki Ramayan and Ramcharitmanas

Uttara not only means NEXT, but also means ANSWER. For example PRASNOTHARAALU which means QUESTION AND ANSWERS. So, this kaanda will have answers to all the questions one get while reading the first 6kaandas of Ramayana.
