Someone correct me if I'm wrong but my interpretation of the lore of this attraction was that the family were not castaways or stranded but had chosen to live like this. The sign out front reads: "We are a family of five who, following our dreams and aspirations of adventures, have settled in this tree high above a great jungle river"

In a world of incredibly advanced animatronics and attractions, the more simple charms of The Adventureland Treehouse are something that I really missed. I hope (though seriously doubt) that this could cause a sort of “back to basics” movement in imagineering.

This really is an infusion of classic Disneyland. So glad to see how much love that was put into it, and it isn't just a dressed up obstacle course like the Tarzan Treehouse was.

So.. I have to tell you.. That sign doesn’t just LOOK like it is carved out of wood, it WAS carved out of wood - by hand. If you look up Ray Kinman on his sight woodcarvingguru you can find more about him.. He’s been carving Disney signs for 40+ years.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the Hat Box Ghost was out of place. There’s already a lot going on in that scene. I like the location for the Hat Box Ghost at Disneyland because there was nothing in that dark corner before and the pacing made a lot more sense as you go to the graveyard. That same corner is empty at Magic Kingdom I don’t know why they couldn’t put the Hat Box Ghost in that same spot.

Based on the information you had from the daughters room: SEA letter sending her items through Jungle Navagation Company, Then the Swiss Family Ribinson book. I'm guessing this is a family choosing to live in the style of the people in the book. This is probably set post 1928 based on the reference to Alberta Falls at JNC in the SEA letter. As I recall, the Swiss Family did not have twin boys or a daughter in either the book or movie. This is probably the reason for the "inspired by" added to the sign at the entrance. Would love to see this some day. Finally "A Direct Guide to Treehouse Living" is not likely to have been on a marooned ship but shows that they studied how to live like this . Pretty cool. Is the "Who's Who among SEA" published?

DLP’s Space Mountain is based on From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne which takes place after the Civil War, while Swiss Family Robinson takes place 60 years earlier. Although I guess that would work.

The family is very much named robinson. Someone has been giving some incorrect information. A simple imdb search will prove that
@Lauren.Wagstaff
@Lauren.Wagstaff 4 ай бұрын
@@MrSoupyPoopies another fun Wikipedia search shows that his information is, in fact, correct. “In the novel, the family is not called "Robinson" as their surname is not mentioned; the intention of the title is to compare them to Robinson Crusoe. However, in 1900, Jules Verne published The Castaways of the Flag (alternatively known as Second Fatherland), where he revisits the original shipwreck. In this sequel, of the family's final years on the original island, the family is called Zermatt.” They may be named Robinson in the film but not in the text.

I was in the land the other day and randomly decided to check it out since I realized that it had been closed for a while. It was at night and I was halfway through walking it when I realized I was the one going backwards through it and not everyone else who kept waiting for me to come up the stairs 🤦‍♂️ but it was still really cool and fun. I'll go through it the right way next time lol

Everything about this was brilliantly done! It took all my favorite childhood memories of the original and plussed them! Thank you for such a warm and passionate report on the Fabulous Tree House! And the slightly more fabulous cascading creek! And, as well, the mostly believable Jane, the watch ostrich! The whole creation is a true and respectful nod to all that is Disney! I am completely sure that Walt nods approvingly from the great beyond! And the crafts people who created and built this beauty do deserve three cheers! Yay! Yay! Yay! Oh and, by the by, what does the average mortal need to do to get their mitts on a copy of "Who's Who Among The S.E.A ~ A Compendium of Membership ~ Vol. IV"? Do, pray, tell!

What a pleasure to be able to dork out about the stream at the Treehouse! I couldn’t agree more! It’s my favorite memory of every Adventure Land I visit. Mentioning the waterfall makes my Aspie Heart very happy ❤. Dude, it’s the speed and volume of the water that’s special. The water gushes so hard it’s filled with oxygen. The roundness of the stones is also super cool.

The Swiss Family treehouse at Magic Kingdom was always so fun when I was younger. I felt so brave getting up there especially since i'm afeared of heights but it felt worth it. Would not be able to do it now probably because I get physically nauseated standing a stool these days, but I'd like to think I could brave it. The ostrich makes a nice reference to the SFR movie with the ostrich racing scene.

I liked the more interactive nature of the Tarzan treehouse (and I'm just biased for Tarzan honestly), I'll admit the treehouse is still cool, and that more S.E.A. is neat, but I also agree that walkthrough attractions are great if not underrated, honestly they are my favorite. Toontown, Tom Sawyer Island, Sleeping Beauty Castle, Tarzan Treehouse, and any queue with interactive elements like Indiana Jones were always my absolute favorite places in the whole park. Hope we get more walkthrough attractions soon

I find it a little off though. The Tree house is based on the Disney movie as you mentioned with the nod to the book. The ostrich name should be Hurricane. In the movie they did go by the Robinsons as their last name. They didn't have a daughter but found Roberta who had been shipwrecked.

From my understanding (maybe from David at Fresh Baked?) the family was inspired by the story of the Swiss Family Robinson and decided to go on their own adventure and create this treehouse and take up the lifestyle. There might be a sign explaining it or something. I forget. So that's why there's the book in there.

My theory is that this latest version of the treehouse is the next generation of the Swiss family, carried on by one of the original family's four sons. This son, most likely Fritz, settled down with the marooned girl from the original story and had a family of his own. When the British ship came to find them, they told their story, and their manuscripts were turned into a bestselling novel, explaining why they have a book about them in-universe and why the family structure doesn't align with the book or the Disney movie.

How does an attraction like this get around ADA requirements? I know some things are grandfathered-in (like SFRT in WDW) but I was under the impression that a grandfathered structure must be made ADA compliant if it undergoes any major construction. I'm assuming this would qualify, though perhaps it's a matter of major structural features like walls? I suppose this question would also apply to Submarine Voyage.
