As someone who is Native American. I always appreciated how authentic and incredible this attraction is. Its one of the most heartfelt attractions I ever had the pleasure to experience. I just wish Knott's would bring this classic back.

I loved this attraction as a kid and I have always thought about it when I get nostalgic . Crazy that I just randomly had the urge to search it and this video was recently made.

Glad you found it! This was a bit of a passion project for me as I have such fond memories dating back to the original Expo 86 attraction. I wasn't sure if others miss this as much as I do. Was very fortunate to experience it one last time before it closed.

Thanks for shining a light on this little hidden jewel. I worked on the show during its final few years of operation and it has such a special place in my heart. I appreciate that you didn't spoil the big illusion at the end... gotta keep a little bit of the magic intact for everyone else.

Thanks for watching. I hope it brought back some good memories! For the final effect, there are many theories out there, I wasn't able to pin down the actual method! I guess some secrets are better left untold (although if you're willing to indulge a fellow fan, please email me at thruthegiftshop@gmail.com - Promise not to share!)

As someone who used to live very close to Knotts, I had a lot of friends and family who worked there (Merry,Scary, and regular) and there were a lot unconfirmed rumors about the Lodge but one was it was infact a real actor and the various actors who played the Storyteller/ Raven were kept secret to the public and from most of the employees. Other than that most of the employees I knew were pretty tight lipped about the show, other than the other more dubious rumor that the actors sought out were always native American. I always thought it was real dude, so thank you for confirming. This was one of my favorite shows and I swear that the show changed every so slightly every couple of years, but that might be a false memory. I'm not entirely sad to see it go, 25 years is a good runtime for a theme park show. I would love something honoring the Tongva or Payómkawichum( Luiseno) take it's place, but Ceder Fair aint about that.

I was only 6 years old, when I saw the original incarnation of this attraction at the GM pavilion at Expo 86, but fortunately as Vancouver was my home, I was able to see it multiple times, and yes the story was about a magical canoe that could grow as large as to fit an entire village, or as small as for a single small child, and at the finale of the story, the storyteller would turn into the white glowing smoke figure sitting in a canoe and row away into the mists, disappearing. It truly was a magical attraction back then, beautiful and a calming story and yes it was called Spirit Lodge. One thing I could never tell, was if the storyteller actor, was wearing a mask that resembled a real face, or was it his real face, as I couldn't quite see his lips move during the original performance, but I guess at 6 years old at the time I couldn't quite notice. Sadly I never got to see the Knotts Berry Farm incarnation of the show, but I'm glad that the show lived as long as it did, and hopefully it will be restored. And yes you are correct, it is the story that is enchanting and what makes the entire performance work.

I truely wish and HOPE someone high up in company will realize the beauty and preciousness of this attraction! Mystery lodge, not only hold a special place in my childhood heart, but it’s lessons still ring true for all the children AND adults off today!

The thunderbird part never fails to scare the heck out of people lol. I love this attraction and I learned a lot about Native American culture which isn’t given enough attention in todays world. Knotts has done nothing to give us any updates or anything about this attractions future. Nothing has been removed but it’s literally there collecting dust for about 3 years. Come on knotts, do something. It’s going to be 4 years since it closed and nothing

Never got to see the KBF version when it was open. However, my wife and I did see the GM version at Expo '86. We were both completely blown away by the presentation! It was our 10th anniversary and it's something I will never forget. I wish I could find a video of that original GM presentation, telling folks about it just doesn't do it justice.

I used to work this show and always enjoy getting to see it several times a day. I still remember much of the spiels before the show would begin. This was also the most relaxing thing to do in the park, and a rare thing to do when it would rain. I miss it and hope that Knott's is working on a way to modernize the technology and fix the show so it can resume. With any hope, that would be without it turning into just a screen or a totally different show.

I always comeback n watch your video a ton. I so miss Mystery Lodge, I must admit at first i never understood the story nor the tech behind it growing up visiting knotts. But when i started watching it in my 20's though it became one of my all time favorite attractions. I'm so sad they shut this beauty of a attraction down though. I sure hope they can the parts needed to fix the projector someday and revive it someday. One can only hope. Only fave show of mine of knotss that is left is the stunt show. :(

It is a very intelligent show with much depth and meaning...all the signs around you point to the raven being behind everything you experience...the lodge you enter has raven on the front with his masks and at the conclusion when the "storyteller" disappears you find that it was raven the whole time! A ravens mask use to float away out of the chimney when raven dropped his human disguise. A very meta show for a theme park.

Stuff like this is so unique. No attractions like this exist anymore. Everything now is just branded crap. With no real care put into it. Take a look at the Halloween overlay in this video, with the digital projector, you can clearly see the line of where the projection cuts off on the top and bottom. It’s so sad to see no care is put into these anymore.

I was there the day it broke in 2019, right before the show was going to begin they said there were technical difficulties. The show was canceled so we had to leave. I always returned to see if it would open up again. The first time I saw the show I teared up because I was so overcome with emotion from the beauty. I didn’t know it would be the last time I’d get to be in that room.
