3:00 -- Ironically, the popularity of Disneyland turned Anaheim into something of a tourist boom town. It became so built up around the park that it actually _doesn't_ have room to grow. When they wanted to build a separate adjacent theme park and a "Disney Downtown" area, they had to build it on the site of their former parking lots. Parking for Disneyland is now at garages some distance away, and they bus visitors in.

Visiting Disneyland is a disaster today... $99 for a child to get in, $109 for an adult- plus tax. Then there's food, shows, at the end of 5 days family for typically has spent $2,500 not including transportation & motels. That's the low end for frugal folks; the average cost is 6 grand for a week and the high-end runs $15k!

Kristian, something we don't normally see from you is your wicked sense of humor. Well done on the intro, and some of the humor injected into the rest of the episode. This is somewhat reminiscent of the "grand opening" of the Flamingo Hotel in Vegas, back in the 40s: Bugsy Siegel opened for one night of partying when it was half-finished, then closed its doors again to finish construction. The difference was that in this case, ABC didn't bump off Walt Disney afterwards: at least HE had the sense not to get money from the mob.
