There's a bit more to one of those reviews that criticized the control scheme in Alien Resurrection. It's already funny to look back on in hindsight knowing it has become the standard for FPS controls, but the reviewer also said people should just pass on Resurrection and wait for Aliens Colonial Marines (mind you it was originally scheduled for a 2001 release on PS2). Yeah that actually happened.

19:42 Funnily enough someone recently released a patch for the Super Famicom version of the first Clock Tower that adds mouse support and the extra content from the PlayStation version. The Windows port is still the best version, though (has higher resolution graphics).
@Malakai2224 жыл бұрын
A fun fact I learned from researching the Super Famicon Clock Tower recently: Yes the SNES version doesn't have mouse support, but not because they didn't want to! When Hifumi Kono pitched his idea for the game (a game where you run away from the threat instead of fight it), his peers told him it wouldn't work. Because they figured it wouldn't work they gave him a very small budget and team, and so they had to scrap mouse support and also had to make the mansion significantly smaller. So it makes sense that mouse support would come in the later ports. Figured you might enjoy that tidbit! (though there is a large chance you already knew)

The analog comment - generally speaking analog mice do exist but in most cases mice work by triggering interrupts rapidly through a polling interval or a digital trigger, meaning they’re still digital albeit they usually trigger far more often than buttons which usually poll at 30-60 times a second, or on every frame render. If there is a polling interval, it’s usually on the mouse itself and this is often advertised as the DPI in some way.
