These documentaries are incredibly well done, there aren't any places to train Wing Chun where I live so the information in this video is fascinating to me. Thanks a lot for the amazing work!

Awesome video brother Philip. My master teaches the same way you describe in your video. Great statement about the chain punch. Never start or use it until your opponent is dazed, off balance or finishing move of sorts. What an honor to be taught and hone your skills at Shaolin. Wow! Awesome brother!!! I am level 9 now learning the final form. Thank you for the video. Ming!

When you mention the techniques flow naturally when you get good, you're 1000% right. I've trained various martial arts, but Wing Chun's techniques feel so natural compared to so many others.

God it's so fucking cool seeing these different, older, and more traditional variations of wing chun. I train in the WSL lineage, so what I'm more familiar with resembles principles that resemble western boxing or even things like silat and some forms of Filipino martial arts. But seeing and playing around with either your lineage or the version taught at the Shaolin temple is really cool learning experience.

all over the youtube, you are the western martial artist who did the most work on your skills I've seen up to now.. If anyone knows someone who is able to show more work than this man, let me know.. Congrats Phill

Phil. Thank you for that excerpt about Chi Sao. So many Wing Chun players skip Mai San Jong/Man Sao and run straight to Chi Sao. Then when they lose it’s “Wing Chun sucks” too many fighting without proper foundation.

There is another lineage that Sifu Sergio found. He visited an old practitioner who claimed his wing Chun was practiced differently. The old practitioner demonstrated a tiny bit of the form and it was interesting. I wish I could find more about that lineage. I’ll see if I can find the name of the practitioner.

I am practicing Wing Chun but with a Vietnamese influence which I think some call it Ving Tsun or Vinh Xuan cause it includes 5 animals but the roots and techniques all remain the same and I absolutely LOVED your video and documentary. Regarding the group of toxic people whining about their lineage and political stuffs.. I know what you mean... I've had some experience like that as well and I am happy that my Sifu is not one of these group of people and just teaches in a patient, respectful and honorable way. Thank you for this awesome video 🙏

Have you ever come across gulao village Pin Sun Wing Chun. Recreated by leung jan(ip mans teachers teacher) in his later years when he retired. This lineage doesn't have the 3 hand forms, but have a number of drills solo and two person drills, plus the chi Sao is slightly different.

I told him a Wing Chun practitioner. One of the things I noticed in your video here though was the students engaging in chain punching and they were making the cardinal error. The punch should always come from the heart. For lack of better term straight ahead and from the center. Their punches were on center but they weren't going straight, instead it was almost like a wagon wheel the fists rubbing down so the friction of the contact could potentially do more damage than the impact based on the speed that they were punching at.
@florisvanlingen3 жыл бұрын
It is indeed a rising punch and when fired from plexus to shoulder height it always arcs down at the end when you fully extend. Since most power of this type of punch is at about 80% you should not fully extend when punching. Also the further away your elbow is from the hip the less connected it is to your body.

@akungfujourney43832 жыл бұрын
Right now the temple is closed because the borders are closed so you can't go in person, BUT you can learn from them online. go to their website and you will see it. I learn there now and it's the next best thing since we can't go in person right now.

Lineages are important not all wing-chun is equal and that's why people argue about lineages. Find a teacher that work's for you and focus on training hard instead of talking other lineages down. BUT keep doing research and see if your perception of a lineage is the same as reality. I went out of my own school to train with many others and found that what some lacked in tecniques they made up for with training hard. But sadly there is a lot of misinformation about wing-chun out there. Ip man has only reallly taught the whole system to a handfull of students and also taught according to their levels. Nowadays there's too many people out there calling themselves masters and are embarassing the art.
