Hello... love all your videos. Thank u so much for making the effort and taking the time 🙏 l just watched your strip cake demo which was great, but could you please do a recipe and video showing how you made the cake underneath - 3 layers vanilla plus filling and stacking etc... l know u already have a vanilla cake video but it's for 2 layers only and l'm afraid to play around with your recipe... thank u 😊🤗

Hi there! So glad to hear you enjoyed the tutorial :) and sure will keep that in mind for future videos - thanks for the suggestion! In the meantime, to make a 6 inch 3 layer cake you can use 1x my vanilla cake recipe, but for a larger 8 inch 3 layer cake then make 1.5x the recipe. For a simple tutorial on icing cakes, I do have an in depth course on Skillshare (linked in the description box), but also have the following KZbin tutorial you can check out :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGHdnGqQpMR5gbM

Great tutorial. The combs linked in the description are opaque plastic. In the video, you used a clear straight smoother and a double-side metal stripe comb. Where can I buy those two?
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yeah the ones I have in the video I bought from online shops here in New Zealand :). They don't always stock them though, but if you wanted to try and find them the websites are cakewarehouse.co.nz and kiwicakes.co.nz :)

It turned out gorgeous! Do you have a recipe for white chocolate buttercream?
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Lovely! I'm so glad to hear it turned out :D. I don't have a video on KZbin for this yet (I do have one on my course on Skillshare), but I do share the recipe for my chocolate SMBC on my SMBC blog post so you can find the recipe on there (for white chocolate SMBC you would just use the same amount of white chocolate instead of the dark chocolate) :)

You should do a tutorial on how to make a Nutella frosting and decorate a Nutella cake with it. A lot of bakers add nuts on the side and a chocolate drip. On the top of the cake they put foreror roche or any chocolate! That would be an amazing video Thank you for all your beneficial videos!!
@CakesbyMK4 жыл бұрын
Yum I love Nutella! I have an idea for a ferrero rocher cake so lets see if I can incorporate nutella into it somehow :). Thanks for the suggestions and glad you're enjoying the videos!

Hello mk, can I know will the swiss meringue butter cream melt off the cake? Will it dry off like the ordinary buttercream? Plz do reply mk, I always have this doubt. And won’t the swiss meringue buttercream melt when it is taken out of the fridge?
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rizmiya! Swiss meringue buttercream is quite a stable buttercream, and although it will get soft in humid weather, it won't melt off the cake as the egg whites help to hold everything together. Hope that helps :)

Hi chef can we do same thing i.e. strip design from whipped cream
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I am not so sure as whipped cream is quite soft. Perhaps if you use a stable whipped cream frosting it might work :)

Can we do this with whipped cream frosting
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I am not sure this specific technique will work with whipped cream as whipped cream is quite soft. Perhaps if you use a stable whipped cream frosting that sets firmly it may work :)

I have a question please when I took my cake from the freezer and I start to put the final step of buttercream,it become hard and frozen , what should i do ?
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Which part became hard? The buttercream? That's okay - once you scrape the excess buttercream off, the design from underneath will come through :)

After you do your first layer of BC, you must freeze it for 15-20 min otherwise when you try to scrape the cake to make stripes you end up making a mess.

why do bakers use buttercream more than whipping cream
@CakesbyMK3 жыл бұрын
Hi Afraah! This is often due to stability. Whipped cream is often not a very stable type of frosting and is relatively soft, so when making layer cakes or even fondant cakes, you want a frosting that's going to set very firmly. Also when it comes to piping and certain decorating techniques, the texture of buttercream is much easier to work with. Hope that helps! :)
