I have been so stressed about life and watching your videos helps me I love when you talk about art, painting and all that humanity mixed in there...

Do art every day. Even if only ten minutes. Draw or paint or make sculptures. It is very calming, especially when you practice acceptance of the stage you are at. 😊

Love listening and learning from you. As a former elementary art teacher, I have always said that I knew a little about a lot and a lot about nothing. Also I can count on one hand the professors that I truly learned from. Thanks for being such a great teacher.

I love your talks and videos, I am watching them from the very beginning. So much sense spoken, I believe everyone who wants to become an artist or who is an artist (and in some cases, even if you don't/aren't ), should watch and actually LISTEN to what your are portraying. You are indeed a breath of fresh air in a rather stale environment. Regards from the UK.

Good idea! I listened to all of Stefan's videos, in sequence before signing up for coaching and it really paid off. I was a reasonably competent painter of other people's photos on google/images before signing up. Then, I fell apart like a cheap suit with Stefan's coaching on real life still lifes. But, my painting improved dramatically in about 4 weeks. I still have a long way to go, but it's fun and I'm seeing results. What more could you ask for?
@kiloromeo76535 жыл бұрын
@@gspurlock1118 I envy you. Unfortunately taking coaching isn't feasible as I live in the UK, and telephone coaching isn't feasible either. Probably the same for a lot of people out there. All I can say is good luck for the future, who knows what it holds:). Not sure if Stefan reads all the comments but If possible please send my regards to Stefan, to carry on what he is doing and the inspiration it brings to us. Kind regards.

@@kiloromeo7653 Thanks, I'm pretty pleased. I decided to sign up for coaching late last year but didn't know if I'd still have a job as the platform I program in is being retired. Happily for me, the new manager told me to get trained up on the new platform and had me moved over to her team. In preparation, I listened to all of Stefan's videos and wrote down the complete list of homework assignments he mentions in the videos. And, I took a lot of notes, like all of the 12 key principles he teaches, composition, setting up still lifes and several other lectures that are exceptionally data laden in addition to the theory and philosophy. He even has one video where he provides the best colors to use for flesh tones. I'm sure I'm progressing faster with private coaching, but there is so much information in his videos that you can certainly get very skilled just by actually doing what he suggests. And, as he's stated many times, the same principles also apply to acrylics, pastels, water colors, guoache, etc. Go make some pictures and report back!

Thank you Stefan for the return call.☺️. I Love all your videos!!! Thank you for being so kind to share your knowledge and talents.❤️- I did take some art classes from a man who was taught by a very $$$$$ school in Uptown, Minneapolis (Minnesota). The school is Autiliair Lock (I'm sure I butchered that name!!!😬) At that school they teach drawing, painting,.... etc. Often it takes them about a year to paint a painting in the old masters style. -Anyway, I squeezed in art classes from him while I had a job as a 24/7 caregiver. But, time came when my lady's health went downhill and I had to give up my classes. Oh, boy, my teacher was SO ANGRY about my quitting!!!! It was just aswell, this teacher was so mean!!!. Between him and his pet student, they bullying me often... -Years later, now, I wished I hadn't let them get to me. -I do "Doodles" these days and they're horrible!!!! I wish I was great from the get go😭. That's my ego talking.☺️ Stefan, thanks for helping me up and back on the horse.🏇 There's a lot of high jumps ahead for me but, I just wanted to thank you for the lift. It means a lot to me.☺️ Thank you. - Chow.🙋

My parents discouraged me from doing art at college.. They wanted me to do science. So I did, for a year, then I realised my soul was miserable (though my grades were good) and changed to study art.. It felt like coming home. When I left school I didn't paint anything for 10 years. Now I've had 2 kids and been a housewife for 5 years and I've decided to be a full time artist when I grow up (when they go to school). I'm actually pretty good and my parents pat me on the shoulder and say "oh well done pet".. Meanwhile I am painting as if my life depended on it. I have quickly gone from painting little birds in acrylic less than a year ago to painting realistic portraits of people and pets in oil, getting commissions regularly but my parents are not impressed. Doesn't matter. My soul is happy and I am making money and I've only just started. Power to artists!!! Follow your dreams. 4 year old me knew what she wanted and thankfully 28 year old me remembered, finally ❤️🎨

good discussion. Just lately, I have been thinking about this retiring thing. And, what I have determined is that I am not going to wait for retirement to begin or return to past hobbies that interest me now. For one thing, the funds are more readily available now. And probably more important is that I am here today... who knows about tomorrow. Btw, sketching is easy to do during your videos; since value is the only thing that really needs attention.

Ok, I've listened to this video twice and I'm lucky if I have assimilated 20% of it. Happily, it's also a fun video, so I can listen to it several times, enjoy it every time and learn something new each time. Keep up the good work Stefan, you're changing the world one artist and one painting at a time ;)

I'm so glad to hear it's no big deal to spray (a lot!) of gloss! varnish on an oil painting, and don't have to wait the 6 months.

When i was little i wanted to be a painter and sell my paintings (but my mum thought i should learn something i could earn a living at.) At high school i did 3 1/2 years of art class. My tutor was an award-winning artist, but i realised later that that didnt make her a good teacher, so within years i got bored and frustrated with my painting. 30 YEARS later an artist friend got me fired up again started me off with acrylics. Now my mother - who started oil painting later in life) WANTS me to learn to paint in OILS.

Stefan- I live in the US Virgin Islands and no one ships varnish for paintings here because it is combustible. Is there anything I can buy to substitute at Home Depot to varnish my oil paintings? Oh and PS: my entire family knows about you because every night at dinner we discuss what I have learned from you that day. Obsessed with your videos. You are amazing!

When i was little i wanted to be an engineer i spent 5 years as an apprentice and 40 years in the trade i know im good as an engineer 2 years ago i got told to stop my fondness for throwing motorbikes into the scenery as i would be blind in a year or so if i continued all detached retina shit et all so as i love art i started painting im shit at it but im only 2 years in it took me 5 years to be an electrician so why should i not expect it to take 5 years to be a competent painter id sign up to the classes and ment tor program with stefan but and theres always a but its a big financial cost at the moment i need to do some work on the side to cover a year of tutorials it will happen i hope regards dave
