after purging the lighter, shake it to expand the remainder gas inside and purge again. you will be surprised when it whoshes again. remember gas under preassure turns to liquid, so when you shake whats left in the lighter you heat it and expand it. that's why you purge, shake, purge, shake, purge.

@aylamiller57522 ай бұрын
There’s a lot of that gas and it can take a while to get all of it out. Shaking it causes the gas to expand and create more pressure because of the warmth of the gas going up slightly. The warmer the room you’re in when you’re purging it also helps get the gas out faster too. I’ve also been dumb enough to (please don’t try this I’m just exposing how I’ve had this work for me when I was having issues purging my lighters) take a cheap bic lighter and quickly warm up the outside of the lighter I was trying to purge. It helped

All you do is add more butane. Push down on the inlet for a few seconds to let the air out then top off with butane. Works like a charm and fills 98% of the tank.

On the can it literally says not to shake it. You want the butane to be transferred as a liquid. The reservoir is drained to relieve pressure. You will have butane as a gas filling that volume at a lower density. Emptying it fully lets you fill with the butane as a dense fluid. More burn time.

@aylamiller57522 ай бұрын
I don’t know why he says to put it in the freezer, the gas/air you would want to purge wouldn’t come out that way because gases don’t expand from cold they expand with heat. It’s the opposite of what you would want. Don’t shake your butane cans when filling your lighter, what you’re supposed to do actually is have the butane can sitting upside down lid down for a dw minutes so the liquid fuel can settle to the bottom before using it, that way you have the proper amount of liquid fuel and pressurized gas. If you shake it you risk ruining your lighter valve when you fill it because it could pop the lighter valve. I’ve also heard of lighters kind of “exploding” from being too full of gas
