Really floored by the professionalism and thoughtfulness of Niikura-san when it comes to how Mine's approaches tuning. I love the approach that proper tuning can make the cars better, not just faster.

Been using a Mine's ECU for the last 15 years and it has run flawlessly, even with every change I've done over the years 👍👍

Hello Mr Niikura-san & Mr Nakayama, I had to opportunity to visit Mine's Japan in October 2018. When the opportunity to travel becomes available again, I will travel back to Yokohama and commission a BNR34 complete build. Kind Regards, Ty

Question - why wouldn't you ask Mines why they haven't advanced to using an Emtron ECU or perhaps even Motec? The old Mines / HKS / Apexi computers really are nothing in comparison to these and don't even offer engine protection via sensors, boost by gear, flat shift & the list goes on... I think in your position & the 21st century you should be asking the Japanese tuners these questions
@ORS804 жыл бұрын
I think Mine's remaps the factory ECU as a direct replacement so that may place some restrictions on what they can do. But yeah, would be interesting to hear what they think about using more modern ECUs.
@brianoconner25012 жыл бұрын
Because remapping OEM ECU's is their specialty. While I agree with you on newer ecu's having more features, a Motec/emtron isn't in everyone's budget especially if they have a mildly to intermediately modified street car that isn't being used in motorsport. That and most if not all the old school tuners of Japan stick with ROM tuned/Apexi ECU's because they have this sort of closed off way of tuning.

@@brianoconner2501 But let's say you ask them to build you an engine (like the Super Response). And you ask them to map it with something like Motec. Will they do it? And is it going to work with a complete engine? Still wondering, a really awesome engine build by Mine's combined with 21st techs (DBW ITB, newest standalone etc)
@brianoconner25012 жыл бұрын
@@aldonova527 sorry about the late reply. Most likely not. I have yet to see them or very many shops up there use standalones. I seen maybe a handful use Haltech, Link and/or MoTec. With that being said, I always wanted a MINE's style build which what I'm doing with my RB26 240z project. I'm going to be using a custom ordered Link PNP ECU with a breakout loom for a future DBW ITB conversion myself (going to stick with cable for now) and my engine builder/tuner is going to help replicate the MINE's Spec 2 RB26 complete engine by using Tomei Japan internals and valve train. Even have the same HKS 2530 turbos and plan on using the MINE's triple flow cam baffles and super outlet pro turbo pipes. Sorry, got off track. Anyway, to answer your question, you can have them build a complete engine (warranty won't be valid if you don't live on Japan tho) then have any ECU of choice run it. Make sure that whoever tunes it can ACTUALLY tune it. Hopefully that helps. 😀
