As a contractor I can tell you that this is invaluable advise. I dont always give multiple options in my bids but looking back I think I won all the ones with options.

Pretty straight forward info that more than often gets forgotten. People love people that care. I’ve made a killing being the guy that makes friends or a relationship with customers doing work for them.

I live within 20 min of pilot mountain. Been thinking of starting a small excavation and demo business. I’ve ran excavators cranes loaders dump trucks etc. been a few years but I love it now on my small backhoe and tractor. Found your vids searching excavation grading tips. I’ve been binge watching because I’m on the fence about starting my own business. Right now I’m an auto ration technician in a plant. I miss being outside. It thanks for the videos I really enjoy em. I’ve learned a lot and I’m getting up the nerve to possibly diving into a business at least on the side.

Your points are simple. Nothing earth shattering. There is no expense related to providing any of them to the customer. They're filled with common sense and respect for other people. I'm sure subscribers quickly pick up on your mountain accent from the words you say. I hope they also pick up on your mountain work ethic and mountain values from the words you say. The simple truths you shared would equally apply to many other small business types. Keep up the videos. KZbin needs this kind of content.

I sure do wish you covered robinsville nc, I have been trying to get work done on my drive way up the mountain for last 2 years. You call folks to do work, they never call you back, or they say yea, will come by and quote job, never show up, or call you to tell you anything. And if they do show up they are late. and do not call. I don't mind paying for good work, but I will not beg people to come out and quote a job. Keep up the good work.

You have some great advice. So im asking I have 50,000 cash to buy a excavator and single axle dump truck which would you spend more cash on dump or excavator then finance the rest Im currently working at water department still I’m hoping to be on my own by summer. I’ll be doing water line from Meter to house, ditch work, French drain, culvert, drive ways. I’m looking at Vio 55 because of price and I’m wonting to stay around 50hp what your thought on that Machine. we only buy case at work so the last 17 years that’s all I’ve run. We got all new International dump truck and stay broke down so any advice on a truck would be helpful to. I live about 15 miles across Tn/North Carolina line around Douglas lake. Keep making these great videos
@DigginLife214 жыл бұрын
I would check around with potential places you plan on applying for loan and find out if interest rates are higher on vehicles or equipment. First Citizens bank is super easy to work with. I would put more money into whichever you are gonna use more. With your description I would put more into a good dump and then rent equipment to help save up for the excavator if necessary

What if the customer is late or don't come or call you saying they will be late or not coming, what you the contractor do then. I have them message me either by text or messenger on Facebook. Every once in while I get a phone call. I still try to be professional as I can. Set time and day to come look at there job. Thanks for information. Have a great day be safe
@DigginLife214 жыл бұрын
Great question!!! I will either FaceTime them or just have them tell me what they want me to look at and quote while I’m on the phone with them
@scrhino404 жыл бұрын
@@DigginLife21 I have done that too. Just call them up and say hey I am here what you need me to look at. If they say they want to show me to come back another day then I say that's a 25 dollar fee for me to come back and they usually say what they want from there to not pay that fee.

and respond to whatever online presence you setup. I keep running into business with email address or web contact forms that don't respond to them. and not just small businesses. I am of the younger generation. I don't want to play phone tag as a customer, I don't want a nebulous phone quote that changes when I show up. I want a price in my email in writing. If i fill out your web form or email you for a quote respond to it or you aint getting my business.
