The Pecos River is barely a trickle where is crosses the Texas-New Mexico border, but once it gets replenished by Independence Creek it becomes a beautiful clear water stream once again. Join me as we visit this portion of the River.
Based on the information I've read you have the right to kayak, wade, and camp on islands in the Pecos River. The river bed belongs to the state. Here are few informative links regarding your rights to the access the River:

That aquarium like spring creek was astounding. All the crystal clear Texas water is such a treasure to me coming from Miss where all we had was muddy water.

Such a magical and mysterious area. I'm not sure anyone not from here can see the majesty of the area...Caves visible from the high bridge show evidence of community and peyote use from 3-4 thousand years ago. Absolutely magical, mysterious Texas!!!!! TY for the vid!

Truly enjoy your videos. Langtry is such a cool place to visit. My family and I usually drive out there when we won’t to get out and explore. Always excited to see what new videos you post.

I was just near Sheffield about a week ago. Too bad I didn't know about Independence creek preserve until I saw this part of your video. I would have visited that area when I went through Sheffield. The sidewalks along that spring fed creek look a lot like the sidewalks along the San Marcos river where it starts there in San Marcos. Except this spot is 10 times more prettier then that other Spring fed river in San Marcos. I've also been through Langtry many times, I enjoy it every time I stop there.

We love going to Langtry but missed the cemetery. We’ll have to walk it more next time. We also tried going to Pandale but we weren’t sure of the gravel road so we turned around. Now we know it’s okay to travel through !!!

This is a great study for model railroad scenery of west Texas. I had already built a lime stone bluff on my model railroad. I thought I painted it a bit too gray, maybe even a little too dark of a gray. Then when I saw the bluff across from Langtry, I had accidentally gotten it just right.

I lived in New Mexico all of my childhood . The pecos river runs above ground for miles then it goes back underground in NM . It does the same in west texas

I’ve been down there several times. My buddy use to have a ranch near Pandale. Know that if you kayak down a Texas river, the river is public, but most land on each side is Private Property and you’ll be trespassing if you go on land without permission from land owner.

Why are there so many springs all over Texas in such an arid region? Is that just part of the ground water that seeps out? I have seen that many times in Floridian springs, but it's quite fascinating to have this many springs in a desert that can fill an entire river. Even the Devil's river you covered did not even seem to originate far up north and must be solely fed by springs.

Across the rio from the bluff you were standing on at the end of your video, allegedly a UFO crash landed there... I dunno. It is documented if you look for it. All that area is one of my old teenage stomping grounds, I got away with soo much crazy stuff; and If i could go back, I'd do it again.
