I'd like to give a shout to Buildsum for these videos. You're doing an awesome job mate and I think you're doing a great service to the construction industry in this country. I think your explanatory style works for all audiences because you are very clear in your descriptions, you maintain a good steady pace that's easy to follow and the procedural way you introduce each step logically follows the actual order of construction, not the process of project conception which has a tendency to overtake the planning because it's the fun part. With such knowledge available so freely, it's a wonder that there are still so many cowboy builders out there since it can't conceivably be more costly to simply do things the right way the first time. As the saying goes, shortcuts are expensive cuts. So thankyou and keep up the good work.

john, how is the deepened edge beam footing and slab works? your videos show the foundation on a flat land. If on a slop land, what is the process? thanks!

Hi How do you fix the bottom plate to the concrete slab?Another informative video. Thank you
@Buildsum5 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, the tie down requirements differ depending on the wind loads in the area that the building is constructed however generally a combination of Ramset type nails and a Dynabolt for chem set type fasteners do the job just the number and the spacing tends to change. Hope this helps.

Buildsum do you put anything between the concrete slab and bottom plate?
@Buildsum5 жыл бұрын
@@claudiusatlas8083 Hi Claudius, there seems to be a couple of different ideas about this. When I was doing frames for a living we didn't put anything under the walls and I don't think you should need to as there is a waterproof membrane under the slab so there should not be any water coming up through the slab and into the wall. However, with that said, I have heard of and seen Polyethelene Damp Proof Course used between the slab and the bottom plate. I can only assume that this is because they are standing the walls not long after the slab has been poured and they are worried about the moisture that is still in the slab transferring into the plates. Hope this helps
