Thank you for producing this documentary. As a Canadian (former member of 2nd Bn Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry) who spent 6 months in Afghanistan with British Forces (based mostly on Royal Scots Dragoon Guards), I'm happy to see that the coalition is still there and still helping our Afghan allies confront this foe. I'd go back to Kabul in a heart beat.

I saw a video earlier saying that their own army causes a lot of stress to the soldiers of the world, because they weren’t disciplined and stoned quite often. They’d waste ammunition by randomly shooting into nothing. Is that true? I prefer the opinion of someone like you who has been there and has real experience of it. I have none, except a friend who was there but lives in Australia now, so tricky to ask him

At that time there were no other military forces other then the 28 of us from the Air Force and a mixed security force from Afghanistan and Pakistan less then 100 all with small arms only at this location. We didn't see British or French troops until we were three plus months into our deployment in month four I believe troops from Norway had also arrived. I did like working with the troops from those countries and we were glad to see them arrive.

@ANWRocketMan5 жыл бұрын
They're called the Foxhound or Ocelot (not sure which is technically correct). The V-shape hull and concept of an MRAP dates back to the South African Defence Force and vehicles designed for them way back since the 70's and 80's in their war in Angola. Some modern South African companies designed and built MRAPS which were bought by the US military since their deployment to the Middle East. Since then the idea has caught on and many Western militaries doing counter-insurgency now use similar designs in MRAP's for protecting against IED's and mines.

It's exactly the same, not different. The USA and allied forces are leaving and the Taliban are taking Over again. It will never change if the Afghanistan people don't step up and take the country back on their own. If they depend on other countries the same thing will happen over and over again when that country leaves the Taliban will take over. If the Afghanistan people cannot step up and take the country back on their own they will never be free. The Taliban has no problem waiting for foreign army's to leave, 1 year or 10 they can wait. People ask how can they take back their country from a much stronger Taliban ? Baby steps, one small area at a time, retake and secure. Get leaders that know how to lead and people that cannot be bought by the Taliban. History shows the pass over the last 20 plus years has not worked. The USA is heavily in dept now with high inflation, they are struggling to take care of their own country. They don't have a budget anymore to dump billions of dollars to support Afghanistan.

Respect for the Turkish Troops
@CrvenkapicaIVZNG4 жыл бұрын
Respect for what? Should we, the citizens of the NATO states, also pay respect to the Turks for the fact that you - the Turks - helped to build ISIS? For the fact that Erdogan provided ISIS with weapons, money and knowledge so that ISIS could establish the caliphate? Should we be grateful to the Turks for Turkey's build-up of terrorism, the slave trade (Yazidis) in Syria and Iraq? Should we be grateful to the Turks for the fact that the Turks now want to establish ISIS in Afghanistan in order to promote dreams for a future "Great Turkish Empire"? Do you Turks think we are all stupid in Europe? It is high time to throw you out of NATO.

1:20 Those army vehicles are the dream of the Philippine Army to combat the guerilla fighting if only we have those.

And all the wars so far teach me, not the weapons, not the vehicles win battles, win wars. It is still the well-trained and properly motivated soldier who wins the battle, the war. That has always been the case. That will always be the case. There is only one exception, the nuclear strike.

It would be worth it if they'd started strip mining the Hindu Kush for all those sweet rare earths but they just wanted the Opium, GO FIGURE.

China has dibs on those rare earths, though it's not their territory. They'll still try it on, though.

The old South African Defence Force designed those v shaped hull armoured vehicles back in the 80s and used them in the bush war and riot control police forces also used them.
@ANWRocketMan5 жыл бұрын
These specific vehicles were designed by Force Prot4ection Europe. The design is loosely based on their older vehicles (the Buffalo and Cougar) which themselves are derived from the South African vehicles built and sold to both the Brits and Americans in the early 2000's. The US, Canada, Columbia, Rwanda, and a number of other countries bought/license produced a large number of RG-31/32/33 (US Military designation) vehicles that were designed in South Africa by Land Systems OMC in the 2000's. It is the same company that developed the Casspir/Mamba/Rooikat (and the chassis and vehicle components of the G6). They are apparantly currently working on a modernised version of the Ratel as well. The defense industry in SA is still good. The SANDF not so much.

M B it is army wide even the rlc are issued sidearms.

Josef Stalin Not all soldiers on ops are issued pistols. On mentoring/liaison ops the threat of insider (so called green on blue) attacks is high, so all troops are required to be armed when working at close proximity to Afghan forces. Pistols are carried as they are less intrusive and overtly threatening, and are more likely to be on the soldier than a rifle.
