Have seen a couple of cats, my dogs, when I am out front. And had a bee buzzing around right in front of it. It works very well. It even shows the neighbour's driveway, but only shows movement just past my own, which is very long. I highly recommend them.

I had to come back and say to new viewers, You will be sorry you wasted your money on Vivint cameras, my cameras not a month old and they have never worked properly, just recently I had a very heavy package delivered to my door and the driver drove off, I saw that while I was at work and when I got home my brother who is mentally challenge who I tells never to open the door when I'm not home. Well the package was inside my house right by the door I know for sure he couldn't lift that package and he said he open the door because my dogs kept barking and a man put the package inside, I was so upset because I know it wasn't the delivery guy and my doorbell nor my outside camera did not record anything, even if my brother did some how lifted the package none of that was recorded. I had many important events that my cameras didn't record. Every week Vivint claim to have done something over the phone to make my cameras work better, but they are worst, $2,300 gone down the drain.

As an Vivint owner for one year now, HERE IS THE REAL REVIEW. First, everything she says about the system is true, BUT here are the SERIOUS disadvantages and WHY I AM MOVING WITHOUT MY VIVINT SYSTEM that I paid in full for, including four other cams. Second, the HD and 4K cameras are VERY mediocre quality, they are B&W at night, not color, unless your yard is spot flooded with 5500k lighting. The cameras use IR technology which causes license plates to glow so forget about for any reason. Third, the motion detection is so easy to defeat, all you have to do is walk fast or run and THEY WON'T DETECT ANYTHING. Fourth, at 1:30 of this video the camera shown is HORRIBLE. It has an extremely poor frame rate and even with STUDIO lighting the color is poor. I believe it uses pixel shifting to create an upscale 1080 rez from a 480 chip. It is located with line sight less that 20 feet from the Hub. The pic that Vivint shows regarding this cam on their ad is pure false advertising. Fifth, the DOORBELL IS slow and often does not work fast enough. It is actually the best camera but it is TOO SLOW to react. I bought this system following sponsored reviews like this one. Trouble is you cannot see who the person is unless they are frontlighted. I live with 400 feet of a major cell tower, yet it says my WI-FI connection is weak. Finally, I called Vivint to complain and their customer service said everything is working fine. I think they STINK!

This company is so crooked. Anybody reading this do not trust Vivint. Their game plan is to sell you their equipment and lock you into a contract. The salesman are encouraged by Vivint to deceive as well. That’s why the salesman knock door to door (even in non soliciting neighborhoods) and are so desperate to get the install done the same day or week. They just want to sell a bunch of shit and get it installed before you change your mind and cancel. If you don’t cancel within 30 days you are fucked if you signed a contract and if you do cancel, it’s unlikely they’ll fix any damage to your home. Once you’ve paid off the equipment, GOOD LUCK if anything needs to get fixed. You could wait months before a tech is sent out that can even figure out what’s wrong. A lot of the time they’ll just straight up ignore you, especially if you need a service and have paid off the equipment already. Vivint does not care about their customers and the equipment hardly works half the time. The employees will all give you the run around and they’re all poorly trained. Vivint is a scam. Do not trust them. To ANYONE WITH VIVINT READING THIS, if you can still cancel, do it now. Go read the bad reviews on their Provo Utah location (headquarters) and read up on the lawsuit that they lost to ADT and their current lawsuit with CPI. Vivint is the sketchiest security company there is.

Read the reviews of this system on the Better Business Bureau and they are rated at 1.6 out of 10 due to BAD customer support and cancelation hassles! They do not "STINK" as you commented they absolutely SUCK A$$! And are NO more 'reliable" than other systems at HALF the monthly cost!

The problem with vivint is that they dont support their systems, i purchased the whole system 2 years ago, i called vivint to upgrade my systems to the new camera, they told me that i have to buy everything, i.ask them if they can take the old system back , credi my account and i pay the difference. I was told no they don't take theirs cameras back... this is sucks minded you this cameras only work on vivin networks

I just wish they would add video verification to alarm events. It’s a bit silly that other, significantly cheaper DIY systems offer it, but not Vivint. Many police jurisdictions are only responding to verified alarms these days due to all the false alarms.

I like to get the latest and greatest tech , so i had to get one to see if we notice any differences. And i know usually bugs are always part of new tech . However i have found ,Maybe sound quality when listening is more clear than gen 1.also we dont use any wifi bridge to cameras ( except for door bell) all our cameras are wire directly to a POE switch straight to our router and the same with our vivint panel. ( we always had a tunnel echo sound when some one speaks in the camera mic. the audio out to the camera was always perfect. There No settings for custom detection like it shows in videos just tha same .just the 6 dots as in gen 1 to set detection zone. All videos show a red box around a person detected , does not have on our live or recorded video playback. I would say color quality is somewhat less vibrant than gen 1. They do have a 64 GB SD card in the base of camera. Video playback still jumps at times just as gen 1 and we have a 1GB DL and up to 30MB upload at our home internet.

OK here's an honest review of their new stuff: tl;dr Forget their new stuff working with Alexa. Elderly unfriendly. The only part of their new system that works with your PC is paying your monthly bill to them or chatting with customer service. Be ready to reboot your house, numerous times, to get the new doorbell unfrozen. I already have the new doorbell camera (installed over a month ago) and new cameras. The doorbell keeps losing its connection, most times a reboot of the smart hub will fix this, but there is no alert when this happens so you may go hours without knowing the doorbell is "offline". The two times the reboot of the hub didn't work, I had to "reboot" my house (turn the main electric off at the breaker box to reboot the doorbell camera). This July, Eufy (an Anker company) has a new fingerprint/keypad/key deadbolt lock, with doorbell and camera, which I'll be replacing it with. The only way to see your camera feeds is via your smartphone. They have done away with being able to see them on your computer. This is a massive drawback for those of us with aging eyesight. The main camera can go back to a 24/7 recording (how far back I don't know, but at least a week) The doorbell does NOT have this go back feature. If it misses something via an event save it's gone forever. Making it no better than any battery-operated doorbell camera, even though it's powered by your home's electricity. None of the new Vivant stuff works with Alexa! Alexa does see the cameras as devices (but not the door and windows sensors!), via the two Vivant skills for her, but it seems Vivint has blocked them from working with her (you can't bring up the camera feeds or set routines with them). In the Vivint app there is an "ad" for Google Assistant which no one is using, outside of Android Auto (and Google has already borked that earlier this year to working via head units only). The only good things are the videos from the cameras (but not the doorbell ones!) are stored in the cloud. That way the police can have some evidence to catch who maimed or murdered you as you tried to get to their smart hub, instead of just dialing 911 with your phone. Or if you are older and can't get to their panel you may be screwed since the Alexa integration isn't there (Alexa does offer a great service for only $20 a month that does more than Vivant's does at 3X the cost and works even if you can't get to the device, via voice). I guess the good thing to say about Vivint is they aren't ADT...

@@tgninja4784 You have the newer or older ones? The newest ones do record well at night with ambient light (cameras on the sides of my house) or like my driveway in color with my garage lights on. I know my review was mostly negative, but their new cameras work great, it's just getting at what they record or using them with Alexa that is a PIA or not even possible. BTW, I hope you had some kind of insurance on that bike! Ouch!

I've had AT&T Digital Life for 6 years & liked the feature of viewing from a PC (& pic in pic on my TV until they discontinued the feature without notice.) I recently came to Vivint to avoid a long term contract after AT&T announced Brinks Home Security is taking over in Sept. I didn't want too many bells & whistles with this new system. I don't enjoy dealing with customer tech care staff on phones if anything goes wrong. Thanks for your review.

Overall Im happy with Vivint. Unlike the other reviewers, I think the customer service is pretty good. U want the best camera, its gonna cost u, bottom line. Does the "Perfect Camera" even exist? I like the outdoor camera, does the job. The lurk feature is awesome. U take 1 step in my driveway it will detect u and sends a LOUD alert. U can change the settings if u want it to sound off after 1 second of someone being in your driveway. NOW, whats sucks is this. If ur a current customer, U have to pay $400 for the new Gen 2. If ur a brand new customer, u automatically get the Gen 2 right off the bat. BOO!!

I don’t know what has happened to Vivint but they have changed. I had them years ago. No problems, then I sold my house. I reached out again and they were very pushy and trying to run my credit, wouldn’t even give me a quote without a credit check. No thanks. 😕

I got my cameras June 30th 2022 and they have not worked properly from day one, and I paid in full, I been have trouble getting them to replace them with new cameras, because the same day my cameras was installed, I found the previous owner's recordings on my panel after the technician left. On the recording was the same technician ringing her doorbell saying he came to uninstall her cameras I looked at the date and time which was June 30th a few hours before he came to install my cameras. On another recording it showed him take out his ladder and bringing it to her home, I also was able to see the recording of her family members leave for work at 5: 30 a.m. and she going outside watering her plants. I was just so upset I couldn't press the numbers fast enough to call Vivint, and as of today July 12,2022 I have a 3rd appointment for the technician to come out to bring new cameras, the other 2 times they called making excuses so I told them it was no need for them to come troubleshooting nothing because I was promised new cameras, I paid in full $2,267. My appointment time for today is 12noon - 4:pm and it's now 3:05pm. I have talked to so many people at Vivint since June 30th trying to get this resolve. I wouldn't recommend no one to the company, I even kept trying to canceled and get a refund but the keep giving me the run around. Do your research before you sign up.

YIKES! Over $2200???? Wow! That's over DOUBLE of what I "invested" in for a COMPLETE system! This is why Vivint or ADT is a BIG No-No for me because of the "professional" installation fees you have to pay and Scheduling "appointments" that cost YOU MONEY because you have to take off of work to be at your home! I went through this with ADT and NEVER again! As you mentioned - the CANCELATION hassles/costs if you "break" your contract! Ouch! NOPE! Other less costly options out there. You just need to do your own homework/research and decide what works for you! There are MANY good choices out there that should suit your needs WITHOUT 2-3yr contracts! Hope you resolve your issues...

Next time you call take control of the conversation and don’t take no as an answer. I’m currently employed by them and have experienced first hand how quickly it’s not what they tell you . I’m currently waiting on pay I’ve should’ve a received since may but while we’re wasn’t for problems to be resolved they’re cashing out weekly.

@@nalaamour ; After MUCH research on my part I ended up with a Ring Pro setup with 5 cameras, motions sensors, smoke/CO2, glass breakage sensors, and MANY door/window sensors, and a few water/freeze sensors. This comes with 24/7 protection, panic feature, cellular and backup battery power. You can control light, switches, plugs and more but I already have SmartThings for ALL my home automation. Is this the "best" out there? No, but offers MANY other options other systems do NOT have and with a TOTAL operating cost of $200 a paid up front for a YEAR!!! With NO CONTRACTS I can cancel at anytime and get pro-rated on that $200. Or you can go month-to-month which I believe is $13.99 a month. So, it makes sense to pay the $200 once per year. Had this setup for 3year now and no issues other than having to change batteries on my smart-lock. I have (2) keypads (rechargeable) at doors but mostly use the Ring app. It's been rock-solid and just simply "works"! ALL my contact sensors still showing FULL after 3yrs! The Ring Pro is NOT for everyone as it has features you may never need which in that case just go with the Ring Alarm 2 which I believe is still $200 a year! It's an Alarm and I test everything about every 2months. This was heavily based on the $200 a year price! NOT $50+ a MONTH! But this system BY FAR exceeded my crappy ADT system I had and tried to "up" me to $56 a month for 5yr old equipment! I said Buh-BYE! and dropped them like a ROCK! I also LOVE the fact the I can add to this system whenever I want with NO TECH. GUYS coming into my home! ( I do not like random people walking throughout my home! ). And NO additional installation costs associated with said TECH. guy(s). I'm NOT saying buy RING. Everyone out there do your own homework and "decide" what's best for you and your family! I simply explained WHY I choose this system and as stated it simply "WORKS" with no hassles and checks all my boxes! There are a TON of other offerings that may be better for YOU. So, in Vivint's case say your average monthly bill is $55. That $660 a year and offers NO better protection than what I have at $200. Also NO alarm system will provide "quicker" Police arrival times to your home! When I had ADT I was paying almost $700 a year for really pretty BASIC "protection" add that up over 5yrs and your looking at ALOT of money that you REALLY do not need to pay!

We had them for years and when we did the upgrade. It was endless problems with equipment to techs not showing up for appointments. Needless to say we did away with Vivint.

It's a feature called Smart Deter. If you have the Vivint app, there should be an option to silence it.

How much will these new "goodies" add to the already over-inflated monthly charges? It's the monthly costs that makes this system less desirable plus the "professional" installation REQUIRED to install any of this stuff at ADDED costs beyond the "product" cost. Not saying this is a "bad" system but just WAY too costly compared to "other" systems at WAY less per month for the same features and do NOT require "professional" installation at the added costs plus your "time" to take of work to meet them and install something or "fix" something when it goes wrong. Let's not even mention the "contracts"! Too many "strikes" for me with this system.

With 0% APR Equipment Financing Vivint doesn’t do service contracts . And you can add on whenever without doing a contract. Most flexible professional monitoring.

@@glennlancaster4813 ; But you still have to "schedule" a professional "install" at ADDED cost and your time to "add" to your system! Contract or not this is NOT the way to go. Just my opinion. Not for me is all I'm saying. Too pricey for my needs! Not saying your "wrong" this avenue is just not for me and other people that don't want to spend this much for a "locked" down system. How much do YOU pay a month for their services that can be had elsewhere for much less per month? It's the PRICE point here that I'm stressing! Did you "look" into cancelation fees if you decide this is not for you? And then how much does that cost?

There is NOTHING professional about the installs to begin with. They send some ignorant summer break college kids that do not know the difference between a concrete and wood drill bit, or a wall ancor is for the screws to hold the crap in the ceiling without falling down 3 days after they leave! I would never recommend Vivint...can't wait till my over-priced system is paid for so I can CANCEL my no contract! 🙄

@@glennlancaster4813 ; But you still have to PAY for someone to come out and install something. How much is this average price? $175 or more? on top of the cost of the "device" itself. It sounds like Vivint has "changed" their ways with contracts. ADT requires a 3year contract now instead of 2yrs when I had those over-priced clowns. ADT also "requires" professional installation of any add-on and back in 2007 was a $75 MINIMUM and could go as high as $200+ back when I had my backup cellular upgraded into "modern" times instead Fred Flintstone tech that I mostly had with this crappy company! I could NEVER recommend ADT to anyone as they are a RIP-OFF with out-dated stuff and charge WAY TOO much. One of the best things I ever did was get RID of ADT and their CRAP and contracts!

I've had my Vivint system for over five years and own the latest products they offer and , I Love my System, I've had short lived issues here and there but they have been sorted out and been problem free. I am gonna get the spotlight pro. I own my Linksys Velop with 4 nodes router and separate Modem , and maybe this is the reason my system has worked so well, not to mention that all my cameras are hard wired by Vivint except door bells. I m throwing this info out there in case this could help somebody.

Older Vivint cameras should keep working as normal. Thes are just new additions to the company's lineup of smart home stuff
