We have a female door supervisor who organises and runs door teams in my local town. She is amazing, Her ability to de-escalate conflict is unbelievable to watch..She also is more than capable of sensible restraint.I male a point of saying hello to her when I see her.. she has no "Attitude"... In the 90"s i worked a a local pub, but it was a big one and had door staff on weekends. One of the most efective ones was female. She was built like Brienne of Tarth, but her personality was closer to Matron from the carry on films. Older lady. Would walk around having banter and jokes with the punters a lot. It would kick off without fail every saturday and sunday, but she was great at breaking it up. As almost all the punters were regulars, they knew her due to her being social with everyone, and she had this motherly energy that made these guys scrapping kind of revert back to childhood or something around her. She would weigh in to break up scraps and the guys would never touch her, and then she would sort of tell them off like a mother. I think this maybe only worked as it was a local pub and because she had a unique personality. She was kinda physicaly intimidating though. Like she could have wiped the floor with me i have no doubt.

It is something like "natural authority". My experience here is not exactly door staff related, but from teachers. My oldest son was authistic and a bit unruly. His teacher was this great guy, really, but he was a really softie. You know the "genderless type". But he had big problems keeping dicipline of my kid. I saw why though, but couldn't really get me to say out loud that he "ought to get some hair on the chest", so we never managed to solve that probleme. But then we moved. New school, new teacher. No dicipline problems at all. Cause the new teacher was like 60 years old, glasses and this aura of authority. I remember meeting her for the first time, even I felt like standing up straight in front of her. When she spoke, you just felt like listening.

I've worked with three female ds, and it's been a mixed bag of the archetype you described. First female ds was how you describe as the bossy girl power type. Her only resolution to anything was to shout at everyone no matter the situation, and when surprise surprise she didn't get her own way and was in physical danger she'd call me and the other ds over for help. She had never learned from any experience she had. The venue where me and the female ds worked was, for the most time, only a three man team. One time, we had a big group of rugby players who were obnoxious and rowdy. To use the term you coined, I and the lad ds used verbal judeo to resolve the situation. Only then after did she berate me and the other lad for being too soft on them and how we should have told them to just piss off. I just said to her, "Were you going to jump in and help us from getting our heads kicked in from 10 or so big rugby lads?"" The other two female ds i worked with were how you described as the pretty but a bit messed up types. To give them credit, they were really good on the doors and had the gift of the gab and sorted out a lot of situations. But they would bring their problems to work. Such as ex boyfriends or, like you said, male ds they'd slept with or even doing drugs while working.

I don't know how I found this channel, but Paul is terrific. He should have a lot more subscribers. His gritty, no-nonsense videos are addictive. I have been studying self-defense law and methods for years. I have studied Ninjutsu and Krav Maga. His videos are a study in how violence works, the myths of martial arts, and a lot more. It's sad that in England (I love it there) you can't even carry pepper spray. On the criminals are "allowed" to be armed. Here in the U.S. crime is soaring, with defunded police and a court system that isn't holding criminals accountable.

Excellent video mate. The majority of people who watch these are the romantic types that watch 'Roadhouse' and think its all a movie... boy they get a shock when they first start. So true about the desensitization to violence. Not only was I bullied as a kid, but it motivated me to become a pro-fighter. I was far from the biggest, but as I used to say when drunk patrons sized me up compared to my reputation - 'I'm not employed for my size'. You are right, virtually all can not fight their way out of a paper bag. The most successful 'hard' blokes were the ones who didnt give a damn, they were more than happy to be violent, and when they went for it, they didn't hold anything back... and that aggression with impunity is what wins against most people.... you have to have a right mind set to deal with that, take a few beatings if necessary, and importantly have the temperament to learn and get back on the saddle... if not - quit. With my decades of experience in the industry, I can honestly say I have never worked with, or even hired a female SO that was worth her weight. You are 100% right - either a good time girl, but mostly power trippers who thought being female precluded them from being hit. I never did come across a female who could hold her own in the industry... and I trained a few female (Muay Thai) fighters. I mentioned before in another video, the only real use they had was taking care of the female toilets, and if they were ok at verbal skills, then handling the more sensitive areas you eluded to... The best female workers in the industry I came across were the 'landlady's' or female Bar Managers of the pubs or clubs. They were usually in their 30s-40s and were confident and verbally capable that had skin in the game as they were the owners. These were usually a blessing because they KNEW what the female SOs were like and they were the ones that usually volunteered for the female toilet duties and then happily employed more male SOs. They (usually) didn't shag the male SO's and there was less confrontation due to butt hurt sexual hassles. I don't care about the modern socio-climate that women are equal to men in all areas - they are simply not. When I was running clubs and was in charge of hiring the personnel, I didn't care about politics, just how I could make the shifts easy, safe, and free from as much hassle as possible and ensuring the patrons had a good time. And not hiring female SO's ensured that 75% of that hassle didn't happen... again people don't understand or are truly aware of violence. The amount of times I saw someone glassed, smashed by a pool cue, billiard ball, stool, or wall trashed was so much that no wonder we get desensitized.... we had to, because we were the ones that had to stoically sort it out and clean up the mess. Sorry for rambling.... just nostalgic :)

I did the doors for neay 30 years, and 99% of the time, I'd avoid having ANY female doorstaff! The liability thing, from my point of view, only extended to searching the women. I told the guys that they could search a woman's bag, or jacket if she's not wearing it, but that's it! In a one to one face of, an average guy would batter a female. That's not being exist, but purely realistic. I love women, but BS from the SIA /police / council etc, means you're endangering others. That includes the male jacket fillers too. Great presentation mate. 👌

Very interesting--I didn't know there were female door staff. I don't feel there should be females at the door because, as you said, 99.9% don't realize that they could end up on the wrong end of violence. The one lady you spoke of that could handle herself sounded like a shero, but of course, she's a rarity. This may be an unpopular opinion, being a woman, but I don't feel female cops should be on teams that handle violent criminals either. Even though they may have the training, there will still be a lot of male and female offenders that will overpower a smaller female officer. Same goes for females in military combat situations.

In the early 00s I was a glass collector in a bar that needed a strong door team. We had this one female doorman who was six foot tall in her socks, and not particularly heavily built. I stupidly agreed to spar with her a couple of times. I am 5' 5'', but I was benching 209lbs at the time, and I was up for a fight, but she woudl just chuck me round like a babe in its mothers arms. She was just a really natural fighter, who could pick up any plane of imbalance in an opponent. On the doors she was very business first, and resolved things with the minimum of fuss. We had this other lass who was something like 5' 2'', who had been an amateur boxer, and had put on a few pounds. Wrapped up in her trench coat she looked like a cream bun on legs. One night this bloke who was a head taller than her called her a fat slag, and she dropped him with a single combination, and his feet flew up in the air.

For myself it is a mix bag. You are losing force when you swap a male door supervisor for a female. That loss of force is dangerous for all involved but you do gain advantages. The ability to have every woman searched at the door did wonders for our chemical problems and they can be very helpful with deesculation. I'm a big man and I can be quite intimidating which sets some people off, so having a woman who can switch with me can lower the chances of violence occurring. Unfortunately though not all door supervisors are good. This goes double for women. A lot of them are just not used to confrontation and they can often freeze when it kicks off.

Won't be the first time a woman has inserted herself into a tense situation and caused chaos. Been in some of those situations, once a bunch of coked up guys and girls in a bar, with one of the females causing mayhem with another particular female at the bar where we were standing having a chat and a pint or two, until one of my mates just got in the way of her access to the other woman in question. Coked up pint sized female gets beligerent and starts trying to slap my mate who fends her off gently with a hand. Her drugged up male friends get in our faces with her hiding behind them emerging to slap at us and of course theys escalate all hell breaks loose. We were not in a position to simply leave as we were way outnumberedat this point . We did manage at some point to exit the bar whereupon the mob in question attacked us again outside. Had an epic fight. I of course as always was armed because where I live you can carry a firearm, even ino a bar and won't get into the specifics of legal carry in a bar vs handling in a bar which has been tested in court, but luckily no weapons came into play and other than some stitches and bruising no permanantt damage was done. Seen far more of these types of episodes than have been involved but nothing like a belligerent female to get all the simpy men riled up.

Such situations are often laughable in retrospect because they have involved a lot of alcohol and any fight you would have got into would not be like anything you would pay to go and see.

@@inregionecaecorum That is always the preference but bluffs don't always work. I am definitely not a "hardman" but I was a reasonable doorman.

You seem to have expressed a preference of strength over fighting skills?
@thatgearguy3 ай бұрын
In a small confined area where weapons are used I would prefer a combination of strength, intelligence, experience and fighting skill. The first three are more important that the latter. I saw a lot of people with Dojo skill get totally ironed out. Dojo skill is the icing on the cake not the foundation for street fighting.

Really like the security stories. “Girl power” and “ladette” culture was the worst thing that ever happened for women - they just wanted all the best bits of being a man without the real shit stuff. Anyway, like your channel and just commenting for your algorithm 🍷cheers

The biggest lie ever in regards to this type of bs, by the woke and far left is, we're all the same.. News flash, we're not, and we're not all equal in build or attitude. We're all different I won't class myself as an ex doorman. However, I have done the odd doorwork, seen and experienced, what you've said.

Keep the women hire more doorman I think you can get away with that in the federal government because you have an endless supply of money but it's a regular business that wouldn't work

I’m not buying this story of that super girl beating everyone up that was hardened by a horrible man.. this ain’t a Hollywood movie as you say

I dont care if you "buy it" or not. Nobody forced you to be here. Feel free not to be.

@@thatgearguy you don’t need to care, and you shouldn’t be triggered by this.. too many movies these last few years showing a 5 foot woman beating up gigantic men, I’ve never seen that in my entirety life and I know I never will

I think women guarding the door is a liability. I am not a small man but even I would feel sub par at a door. I have had formal defense training. I still wouldn't feel comfortable at a door. I just think for a woman , it's dangerous
