This reminded me of how holidays were when I was younger and we didn't have a lot of money and we had to make do with what we had. One year the power even went out (luckily after dinner!) but it turned out to be so special just spending time with my parents and my sister by candlelight and flashlights lol 🙂 It might not be what we're used to, but I think everything will be ok. 🙂 Thanks for the great tips! I remember the ice storm that crystallized at least MY part of the map, shhhhh, 9-10-ish years ago during Passover and thank God we had a small generator (we were farmers) and we literally lived in in a 10×12-ish room with two dogs, one cat, two humans.. we manhandled the reclining sofa and an itty bitty TV into the room, oh, yeah and a microwave... except for the I C E cold showers (remaining grateful for at least that, lol), it was THEE bestest 6-7 days of my life....

Enjoy your kitniyot, Marion. We too enjoyed some steamed rice (we always do) and garbanzo beans last night (cooked from dry). I feel very forthuate to have the food that we have, and I would be pained to waste it - especially these nutritious foods. My children, being rice-a-holics, are also much happier for it. Tonight they had "sushi bowls" with the leftover rice. I loved your video. Such an important message.

Marion, I'm not sure how I missed this one, but DIY seder is so my thing. I completely agree that now is not the time to be in the stores, and it is not the time to waste. God would be glad for us to prioritize life, health, and resources for when we need them. We are definitely hunkering down here in LA and are grateful that I found two unopened boxes of matzah from last year in the pantry. That said, your make your own matzah video was so inspiring. Where there's a will, there's a way! Big hugs to you!

A fun idea for a Seder plate if you have kids- My daughter (she was 12) started a tradition last year by painting a Seder plate and we got small, clear bowls to go over each Illustration she did. I am going to have her do one each year- I thought it would make a neat tradition and special memories 😊 And Great video, love when you do holiday videos!

I’m attending a Seder and wanted to brush up on some of the terms so I would know more of what to expect. You did a great job explaining. My heat goes out to moms like you that lost faith in God and believed the fear tactics of the government. Hearing how scared you were and telling people over and over to live in fear inside your house is the opposite of the freedom Moses let the Jews into when they left Egypt. Your warnings and fears were not of God.

Great video! I also appreciate you stressing to not stress about the kosher aspect right now while we are all in these crazy times. It has been very difficult to find any kosher items at the market near me these days as the shelves are so bare. We just have to make do with what we got and it’s not about the labels.

Helpful video. We reuse the same shank bone every year. We just throw it in the freezer and take it out for pesach. So that's one thing we have for the Seder plate lol. We also bought all the typical shelf stable pesach stuff already.

I am not affiliated with any religion group. I was brought up as Catholic but as I grew older I realized everything I learned was not actually scripture based. I am following the Jewish calendar and I am still learning. My understanding is, Yeshua was not only a Jew, but a Rabbi teaching the Torah. He followed all the commandments and so should I. This passover I will celebrate the deliverance of the Jewish people from Egypt but also, I can see how my messiah fulfill this feast being our passover lamb. If you are a follower of Yeshua aka Jesus, I highly recommend you to watch "Identity Crisis " by Jim Stanley. It completely changed my relationship with God.

Thank you for speaking of saving a life or being a good steward of God's creation and that includes oneself and everyone else. We must preserve life, regardless of our having leaders who are indecent and are suggesting sacrificing people for the sake of the economy. It is a primary value in Judaism, too, that if there is appropriate fasting to be practiced that this is not expected of the extremely elderly or vulnerable wee ones or the medically compromised for whom it would be dangerous to participate in such a practice. No rule is without its life-saving exceptions in Judaism. Again, thanks for emphasizing not to get rid of food you may need in this crisis. The prime directive is to preserve life. Horseradish may last a century before expiry. What a gift to show us how to do this with what we have already at home and stay safe. I'll have to check out this potato kugle recipe. Thank you for helping us to do the remembering.

This is a really nice video, Marion. I love your approach. By the way, the Talmud says you can use any two cooked foods to represent the Paschal and Holiday sacrifices instead of the shank bone and the egg. We used a beet instead of the bone, as many vegetarians do. Or you could use a "Paschal yam". 😊 Any vegetable works for Karpas if you don't have parsley. Even a (cooked) potato is OK. @@Lootoodle Hey M.C., thank you for sharing your thoughts. Rest assured that I take no offense, rather I feel honoured to discuss. Personally, I follow the Jewish principle of na’aseh v’nishma, "we will do and then we will learn". There are commandments that may not yet make sense to us (yet) (eating kosher, and the stricter version of it on Pessach, are examples) but I think we can still accept them as a spiritual act and show our trust in the Eybershter. Considering that we were commanded not only to not consume, but also to not OWN any chametz during Pessach, I think we should do our best to follow what we were explicitly told in the Torah. Yes, we can substitute things on our Seder plates but I would (and will have to, sadly) only do this if there really is no other way, not because of is easier or anything. We should always strive to do things properly. Of course you are right that we need to think about and work on our relationship with HaShem with everything we do but I still do not think that this allows us to be slack about fulfilling the mitzvot. However, I do recognise that there is a crisis going on right now where food must not be wasted and we should avoid meeting others and I believe we will be forgiven if we do what we can, even if it may not be ideal. (1) See 1:23 of this video, thank you for the health advice, but you are not a physician or a research scientist. "Staying home" did not save lives. The lock downs killed more people than Covid did, ruined small businesses, and harmed our children. Covid hysteria did result in average workers paying 2+ trillion in taxes to big pharma. I live in SW Ohio (unfortunately 🤣) and folks are out and about! That's crazy to me ... I mean, at night, it's quieter than "normal" but it's pretty much "business as usual" ... This will all abruptly dissolve the weekend of Passover.... Edit: I don't believe you could be any sweeter... thank you for what you do, honey...
