+1 was about to say the same. It looks like it would have been close anyhow. But if you want a perfect angle it needs 2 points on the stone and flat on the tool

I have a super grind 2000 with an SG250, how much of a difference do you find the SJ-250 makes compared to the 1000 grit of the SG-250? Thanks for the awsome video by the way 🙂

The heel of the black anglesetting plastic of the anglemaster must touch the stone and apex of the chisel to be accurate….not creeping 3 mm up above the apex of the chisel…..

Your videos are an excellent supplement to the "official" Tormek sharpening tutorials, and often much better. I am a new user, having recently purchased a T8 and have been practicing functionality and technique. Question; sometimes after I have sharpened a knife, I have noticed under a bright light that the bevel on one side appears to be larger ie. higher up the blade body than the other side. Yet, the blade angle to the stone remained the same for both sides. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, your videos have really helped my sharpening abilities. And, a hello to you too BIG D!
@sedgetool
@sedgetool Жыл бұрын
I have had this happen and cured it by maintaing a steady line and lifting in line not trying to follow the curve of the blade...be patient it took me a few knives to get this technique down...

That might be an aligning issue, can be tackled by reclamping after sharpening first side.

I could not either however have a look second hand for a tormek supergrind 2000. I bought one for £180 second hand and you can install nearly all new parts on it. Make sure you check for the stone quality and few other bits before buying

been using for over a month and think the Tormek is worth the investment. I have sharpened so much it from knifes, plane blades, chisels and motor blade. The quality makes me think its a buy once tool which is why its so expensive. Have you looked at the smaller unit as well?

Very clueless grinding against rotation on the Japanese stone. It's a relatively soft stone which makes it much more likely to grip any edge or bevel..
