In the initial print of Stonewall's Sword the map didn't include the reference elevation numbers (1,2,3...). You were meant to discern relative elevation by color changes only making it extremely difficult to figure out what was blocking what. In the 2nd release of it they added those elevation numbers to match their other other games and it has helped immensely. I think they blend in well with the map art. I ended up buying another copy of Stonewall's Sword just to get the map updates. That was OK because some of the other info markers on my now duplicate counter sheet are handy to have. I appreciate the improvements the system has made in the maps and rules. I also like that you can purchase extra counter sheets from Revolution Games just to get some extra info counters too and that their website allows you to download rules, scenario books, and errata.

I purchased Stonewall’s Sword when it first came out and I wasn’t impressed and sold it. A few years later, I picked up Kernstown and I was hooked. I don’t remember what caused the change in opinion. I repurchased Stonewall’s Sword and it does have the elevation numbers. This system is by far my favorite ACW game system.
