I personally like Sedley a lot, at least for summer. I would buy this one from a discounters however. It's refreshing to have someone comment about a fragrance without agreeing with everyone else. I think Pegasus Exclusif might be the only PDM that might interest you if you haven't tried it already. It's different from the rest of the line

On another note, I have almost 200 fragrances in my collection and I got more compliments wearing Sedley than any other fragrance, not that I care about compliments but it's definitely appealing to most people.

I've got a soft spot for PdM. Their brief has always to be make good quality mass appealing fragrances at a niche price point. If you know where to look you can get 125ml bottles for around $150. Yeah they make designer type fragrances but they're better constructed and use better materials and perform better than designers. If you disagree, name a designer fragrance better constructed than Layton, Carlisle, Herod, Oajan etc...Eros is trash in comparison. They're not trying to be unique or original. They do what they do well imo.

It's nice to see someone that enjoys them and there's plenty of you in the world that do. Now to your point that they are better constructed I would highly disagree with that, brands like Chanel, Hermes, Dior among others you can tell the nose and the brand took time to construct them to the smallest detail to be great. Use better materials, again I disagree with you, what makes you think that? Are you there with them buying these materials? Perform better than designers? Again, which designers? There's plenty of designers that outperform these PDM's. You are right in one thing which is what they do, they do well. They save on real marketing and give free bottles to influencers to push the product. They do that well and honestly they were one of the first to do it successfully. Without influencers this brand would be lost in the high end market and probably closed their doors due to lack of sales. I appreciate anyone who enjoys any scent and I applaud anyone to write a comment on my channel saying why they love them and I hope you continue to enjoy your PDM's.

@@robes08 you make a fair point about Chanel, Dior and Hermes. However, these brands are elite, and in a league of their own. So I concede, those brands make better constructed fragrances than PdM. However, I don't look at those brands as competitors. The kind of mass appealing designer fragrances that PdM make are more like you said: Versace Eros or say, Armani Stronger With You, V+R Spicebomb. Mass appealing, dumb reaches for social situations, dates or partying. The three designers I've mentioned all smell significantly more synthetic than the PdMs I own. They all have some horrible scratchy fixative or some other chemical that doesn't agree with me, that I've never experienced with PdMs. My experience and that of many others, is that their performance is better than most designers. That's not particularly controversial, its one of their features. Look, I don't love PdM, I can't remember when I last wore one, but for the right occasion they do the job better than most imo.

People do not believe me, but PDM Layton smells almost exactly like an Avon fragrance launched about 25+ years ago named Mesmerize. I thought I must be nuts for thinking that PDM would copy an old Avon scent. So I jad my brother smell Layton and he immediately recalled Mezmerize which is actually still in production. Im convinced that Layton is actually a dupe for Mezmerize!

Flop? This is one of the best "Designer" Freshies you can buy right now 🤣 Give it a few wearing's Marc. It for sure grows on you. Its one of my all time favorite summer-wears for sure. I really dig it. - Note: they changed the Vol % of all PDM's in 2023 so now the Vol % for Sedley is now 82% instead of 78% like the batch I have from 2021 - I will say the 2021 smells better to me.

I'm a PDM hater, but I enjoy Sedley. I own Oajan, Herod and Sedley, but Sedley is the only one I care for from the entire house. The brand as a whole is just overhyped and boring. Never pay $300+ for any PDM. They can be found for ~$150, but I wouldn't even pay that.

Appreciate your take on these, Marc! Definitely recommend getting the Middle Eastern clones of this one when it comes to the price, to some extent the Lattafa is better than the PDM save for the lavender quality imo, this is actually a favorite simplistic DNA of mine, more than other blues due to the slight green/shaving foam hints, and got my 4.2 bottle under 150 back in the day, hard to recommend it at +$200/300 and won't be getting a backup when mine runs out. Going to have to try and score a bottle of Cartier Roadster. Love that house and mint. Wish Cartier would get PDM-like sales so they wouldn't have to keep discontinuing stuff like Roadster and Declaration d'Un Soir/d'Un Soir Intense! Much love, Marc! I was really surprised that this ended up being a crappy barber shop frag. The way people talked about it I thought it was gonna be a citrus for the high heat. I was hoping for a niche version of Versace man eau Fraiche (which has the same perfumer) but was really let down when I sampled it

I love this channel for your honesty Mark!!! We had a member of one of our canadian Facebook fragrance groups that does reviews speak highly about that new CEO fragrance (yes he was given the bottle) and a few of us said its absolute garbage especially for the price, quality and blatant scammy feel of the company itself but through the back and forths the gentleman was clearly backtracking on his stance so you could see how fake he was being, I got a really bad taste in my mouth from that so to see reviews like this it really gives hope again.

Phoney cologney 😆 I am SO using that. Never was a fan of this one from the rip. Used up a couple of samples of the original release and it was the most bland minty citrus I had ever smelled. I'd take Perseus over it any day of the week, but even then....the TdH line is like half the price.

I love freshies, and bought decants twice of both Sedley and Greenley from PdM. My mistake, forgot I had tried them 2-3 years before. I don't mind paying a bit (not a lot) extra if I really like the scent, both those two were just not worth it and did not like the scents at all.

Yeah, I got a free tester of Sedley around it's launch when I bought my bottle of one of the dazzling cold-weather PdMs, put one spray on my wrist and immediately went to wash it off. I've never smelled the reformed version. The launch version was brutal on me.

People spend top dollar for this stuff because of influencers, marketing, and brand loyalty. When you aren't curious and don't want to go outside of the established norm or aren't looking for yourself...it becomes difficult to know that these are clones or fragrances that are close to something else on the market. You've got to be curious for something exciting and new, and PDM is focusing on what sells on the market, sadly. Now sure, I own Carlisle and Layton Exclusif, and I like them both...but I've tried so many PDMs myself and have the same reaction as you do here for the more recent ones. Sedley was "okay" but I didn't like the type of mint here. If it was maybe closer to a peppermint, I might have kept it, but eh. Little impresses me anymore after all the fragrances I've tried over the years.

I had a sample of Oajan and I really liked that. I also remember when I first tried Kalan I thought it smelled like a photorealistic bell pepper haha, fibers, seeds and all. When I smell it now it smells like someone diffused black pepper into the air haha, interesting fragrance. Other than that PDM never really moved me much

Have you tried Layton Exclusif? I feel the same as you concerning PDM, synthetic and overpriced hype scents. Layton Exclusif imo is one from the house I actually like and enjoy, steers away from their usual boring scents. Would love to hear your opinion on it. Shagya is another one if you like musky woody scents.

Really agree with you man! PDM is way overrated. I have Herod, Greenley and Shagya. I love Herod and like the other two. But come on Layton??? Pegasus?? and even the the last 2 I mentioned, nothing too special. Sedley is horribly general. Percival is another dud! Sedley is horrendous "SADLY" PDM should get into bottle designing business, they make stellar bottles. Apart from Herod, I do not rate any of them highly.

If PdM has an identity, to me it is something sweet in the base which seems vanillic even when no vanilla note is listed. It's like they share a common aromachemical composition that they build their scents from.

You can always check my old Top 10-20 summer videos from back in the 2010's. They are still legit and will show my taste. I really like to try to get away from the typical citrus and try to get into different notes like mint, fig among others to be fresh but different.

PDM warm weather offerings are extremly bad, galloway is only one which is worth mentioning. I would not agree for whole brand. They have some great offerings like layton, layton exc, carlisle, habdan, oajan, nisean, pegasus exclusif. But all of those are release long time ago. From that time, PDM increased the price point and did not offer anything new

We can start with designer high end luxury lines like Hermessence from Hermes to the private blend lines from Chanel and Dior. We can go with Diptyque to Mona Di Orio to Heeley, Amouage, Maison Francis K, Parfum D'empire to Rania J. Guerlain's high end line is also leaps and bounds better to L'artisan Parfumeur or D.S. and Durga or Histoires de parfums. Slumberhouse to MDCI or let's end it with Serge Lutens to put a cherry on top. and that's just me naming a few brands on top of my head.

PDM gets a stigma for "cloning" but please tell me what smells like Layton, Pegasus, Kalan, and Greenely? To me, they are all in their own class. Kalan is reminiscent of an "oud for greatness" type of scent but different.
