Such a smart, charismatic girl. If only they'd taken better care of her as a teenage star! Thank goodness she got over it and is now a strong, healthy woman... and a mother herself!

She "grew up fast". But I wouldn't label it as a "bad childhood". She was overexperienced. That isn't unusual for children who grow up in the spotlight. Especially when they're Hollywood royalty.

I remember being five years old and watching et in the walk in movie theater and thinking that drew Barrymore was the prettiest girl in the whole world. I think she was the first actress I had seen in a movie that was close to my age and actually had a speaking role. I remember thinking elliot looked like a big guy at twice my age . That was my favorite movie until goonies came out when I was in second grade and riding my own bike. When I watched et I left that theater wondering how I was going to find a bike to ride and ditch the big wheel.. I wasnt even in kindergarten yet and I still remember the seat I sat in in the theater it had such a huge impact on me. It was the first movie that I actually watched the entire thing at once. Left in tears balling my eyes out that et went home. I had seen parts of star wars before that and I clearly remember thinking that it was neat that that it was like kid luke and leah and it was probably pigtails that were like Leah's buns. The first girl I seen in a movie and had a crush on my summer before kindergarten when I had just started my first job working for my grandpa. It's funny the things I haven't thought about in 38 years but feels like it wasnt that long ago because it was such a big deal to me at the time.

Its a amazing how Drew was in the spotlight and then she dissappeared and then came back into the spotlight in Hollywood and she is calling her own shots. Drew Berrymore was a cute little girl who played in ET in 1982 and that made her a huge star and she did some movies and TV in 1992 and Poison Ivy was her biggest hit and a cult classic. Then she did some TV movies and worked her way back and now she is a mom with two adorable children Frankie & Olive. She has her own talk show The Drew Berrymore show and I think she should go back into acting. She had Paris Hilton on her show.

The real disgrace was all the adults around her didn't help her ... infact all was just watching that kid was straying away.. so sad.. Father left her .. mum was abusing her at a tender age etc., etc., see the video about her life.. pathetic.. we are lucky kids.. be compassionate towards kids who are less fortunate
