It seems like based on how fluid things are, they have a full band and the only track is the click, OR their playback engineer is nuts at his or her job, and is muting synths and pads as needed when the MD is calling chords for those vamps. Either way, that band is really well rehearsed and pro, to be moving with him on chords at sometimes a quarter note's notice.

And I want to do this using my Android Phone, with a suitable app for example. I'm not sure if this is doable though. So can I ask you for advice? What do you use to record? Someone help me understand the "and" calls after the chord # ? its not just the time count right? it was a bit confusing especial during 6-5-1 build
@EEdwardsMusic2 жыл бұрын
The “and” is used to determine the timing of the chord. The chord is placed on the beat after the “and.” For instance, the chord number then “and” takes the place of a 3-4 count. If I need the 1 chord to be on the downbeat, I would say “1 and” on beats 3 and 4. If I need the 1 chord to be pushed to beat 4, I would say “1 and” on beats 2 and 3. Hopefully that clears it up!
@SamuelStephen2 жыл бұрын
@@EEdwardsMusic yup that clears it up a lot. I just thought it was weird but now it makes full sense. This allows you to announce a chord before its actually needed instead of right on it. (which is something Im working on)

@dudleysquibbles63663 жыл бұрын
Tracks sometimes don’t allow for free roam, such as if they wanted to repeat the first verse after the ending, or leave space open for prayer before going back into the song. These are better vocalized by the MD over a metronome, instead of being controlled by the track.

Here's the premise: The MD leads the band, technically and spiritually, so the Worship Leader can lead the congregation without being as concerned about the band. This way, they can lead freely and flow. The MD gives the band confidence to play together in moments that could be uncertain, or are unrehearsed. WL and MD lead the team hand in hand.
