I don't get why an actor would want a huge tattoo. I've heard casting directors can decide against hiring an actor based on stupid or frivolous reasons that are often contradictory and based on a whim or gut feelings that often don't make sense. So why risk giving them one more reason to turn you away by getting a huge tattoo that could very well be wrong for the character you're auditioning for? Especially roles where they have to be shirtless. It's a good thing Aladdin's vest covers that huge cross on his back, because I'm not sure it would make sense for the character to have a Christian cross tattoo. The story might even have originated before Christianity even existed. Or if it had, I would think there would be a good chance Aladdin might have been a Muslim or maybe a Hindu. Even if Aladdin was a Christian, I'm pretty sure there is a part of the Bible that says god doesn't like tattoos and says they are sinful. Personally, I don't believe that, but a casting director might. And even with the times a casting director might want a character to have a tattoo, it would be hard to predict what kind of symbol they would be looking for. If an actor needs a tattoo for a role, I would think it would be easy for makeup artists to add temporary tattoos.
