Had they succeeded in either delaying the vote beyond inauguration day, actually hanging Pence, or outright cancelling the vote... and probably a few other outcomes? Those would not be called insurrection... as an insurrection is defined by its quick success or failure. It would probably had been called an insurrection if the outcome was successful AND quick... as in the mob & militia delay the vote, but the vote still happens, but Pence decides to do as Trump wanted and tosses the results of the election, congress votes that Trump won, or was it the Majority of (R)Governors? i dont remember that theory used to even attempt this.
