I’ve worked as nonpartisan staff in three state legislatures (2 red states and 1 blue). This is absolutely despicable. I’ve seen members who were accused of sexual assault or were found to be sleeping with interns and they weren’t even removed!!! I left nonpartisan work due to the rise of misinformation and authoritarianism. It breaks my heart to see democracy withering and dying. Tennessee is reprehensible. The shooting took place in Nashville. I am from Tennessee, and I am appalled by this action. It is very concerning that elected officials can be removed and replaced at will. It is disrespectful and insulting to the voters. We should be proud of these 3 for actually listening to and supporting their constituents.. Tennessee supports guns, violence against women and children (in the form of rape and incest), and discrimination against people in the LBGTQ community.
