The Boeing Starliner spacecraft launched its historic first crewed test flight in June and has made it “safely back to the desert floor,” according to NASA’s webcast hosts. CNN's Kristin Fisher reports. #CNN #News

@@GeoffreyFeldmanMA Yeah he didn't explain his reason but is it quite obvious that the MISSION itself has failed? On January 5, 2024 Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 landed safely with a door plug missing😜 but obviously its MISSION--transport its passengers to their destination--failed. Technically, even if this Starliner launch was an unmanned mission, it would still hardly be considered as a solid success just because it was able to return and land since there were too many system bugs showed during the flight.

Hey you need to throw in a couple of the 737 max. Damn those black boxes tell everything.
@jaturnley7 күн бұрын
@@mrfishypep Airlines aren't buying their products because consumer confidence in them is in the toilet; nobody in their right mind would choose to fly on one of their new planes if there's an option at this point, and there are airlines that have Airbus planes to be that option. They continue to prove time after time that in the state the company is currently in, they cannot be trusted to make products that function as expected. Bear in mind that this isn't a single area where things are problematic; the original 737 Max grounding were caused by software issues, as were the problems with the first test flight of Starliner. The second issues were hardware based on both products, with the batteries on the 737 and the parachutes, RCS fuel leaks and now thrusters on Starliner. ANd now we are seeing manufacturing process issues with the 737, and perhaps on Starliner as well (we will know more soon, since one of the thrusters in the crew module failed during the return so they can forensically examine it, unlike all of the thrusters that failed on the service module). There are also issues with bribery of officials, and they have moved corporate office locations twice in a decade to avoid taxes. Basically the company has issues at every single level at this point. They *might* recover, but to do so will basically require the entire company top end to be replaced, and 100% transparency in every single aspect of their business. Given that we would most likely find many (potentially criminal) problems in that process, it's unlikely to happen.

North American Rockwell (now part of Boeing) did encounter some issues related to helium in the Command and Service Modules (CSM) during the Apollo program. Helium Tanks: The CSM contained helium tanks used to pressurize the fuel and oxidizer tanks for the Reaction Control System (RCS) and the Service Propulsion System (SPS). These tanks were crucial for maintaining the proper pressure needed for fuel delivery. Issues Encountered: Helium Tank Leaks- There were instances of helium tank leaks that required careful monitoring and management. Leaks could lead to a loss of pressurization, which would affect the performance of the propulsion systems. Regulator Failures: There were also issues with helium regulators, which are responsible for maintaining the correct pressure levels. Failures in these regulators could lead to either over-pressurization or under-pressurization.
