I dont know that Emoji, my dad was a minister. actually, i did run nitromethane and it was the most amazing burn I have ever seen and i can't wait to share it. then I mounted a turbo and ran nitro. those videos were supposed to post in April or may, however, my contract with discovery channel was compromised when everyone on the internet and YT FB especially, started freebooting and stealing my content. by may 2017 I had over 70 million stolen views, i was in trouble. it took me almost 6 months to fix the issue and as of october its fixed, which is why we started uploading full episodes again. I was very disappointed that we didn't get those up as scheduled, they were my favourites to date. that being said they will be going up in the next week or 2. again I deeply apologize but I had to address the theft issue before moving on with my plans for this channel. thanks for your patience and feedback!

Great videos. A couple of suggestions, if you don't mind: # You should spark every 720 degrees, the extra/useless spark disturbs someway the show (especially at high RPMs). # Actually, you fire at TDC. You should really put some ignition advance (40+ degrees), but be prepared for a huge increase in performance. It will show a more realistic combustion process, though (ie. right now when the piston reached BDC the combustion hasn't even completed yet). Anyhow, great work, thanks a lot for sharing.

It is incredible to see how fumes rush through the exhaust valve as soon as it starts to open... I had the assumption that it was the piston the one in charge of pushing the fumes thru the valve, but you can clearly see how residual pressure makes the job, at least partially.

@Lucius_Chiaraviglio5 жыл бұрын
Would probably lose a lot of the energy that way, since light is the thermal radiation from high temperature, and if you let it escape, you cool the gas down, causing it to produce less power. Would be interesting to run this engine under load (dynamo) and compare the fuel to energy ratio with the transparent head versus the normal head. (Of course, the normal head, being metal, does conduct a fair amount of heat away as well.)

I know that you said that the engine is going to be blown up and that we shouldn't write next fuel ideas, but if you decide to visit it next time sometime, the acetone run reminded me one chemistry lesson. That sure would look awesome :D

Hi I was one of those who asked for acetone, and although it's not the best fuel for show biz it seems it's the best fuel when it comes to resist detonation on high compression engines, it has a very high octane count. It reminded me of an old footage of an F1 gp when while at top up pit stop they inadvertently splashed the pilot with fuel which eventualy caught fire and you could see the guy jumping out of the car and running around trying to shake off some invisible menace, as you couldn't literally see any flames at all. They finally got to him with extinguishers and put him out. Back then they had very high octane leaded fuel (80's turbo era) . I guess that octane count and bright flames don't go together. Thanx for the video it was very interesting.

The reason the acetone did not make a big flash is because it burned CLEAN and clean burning fuels will not make a big yellow flash which is a sign of glowing unburnt carbon which is what stains your viewing area. The acetone ran best by far. I have run a lawn mower on both acetone and denatured alcohol before and it ran better than gasoline because the low vapor pressure, short chain, oxygen included fuels tend to thoroughly evaporate, leaving no globs of wet liquid fuels to go through unburnt.
@WarpedYT7 жыл бұрын
+Delicious DeBlair thanks for the insight, I guess that makes sense, if it burns really clean then you probably wouldn't see it very well.
@DeliciousDeBlair7 жыл бұрын
One thing most people totally forget is that an internal combustion is not a fuel pump, but an air pump. The only reason for the fuel is to heat the air. One could use a lot of things including direct solar energy [it is being done already in fact] and even pistonless engines, [from rockets, to turbines to a host of other novel devices, and of course there are externally heated engines as well] so what one wants to do is to use the least amount of fuel it takes to generate the right amount of heat in the right location without either wasting it as excess engine heating and spewing it out the exhaust pipe unburnt, wasting it by blowing it into the engine block, or causing the piston needless stress by having it burn for too long in the rotation of the power stroke. The advantage a cleaner burning fuel has is that it completely burns within the cylinder [provided the mixture is not too rich for the volume of oxygen on hand] and does not waste a lot of heat as radiation which only serves to heat the mechanical parts. Also it leaves no soot or carbon buildup, does not burn the valves, and because of its high octane rating, acetone, as with alcohol [all of them with low vapor pressures] are detonation resistant, allowing higher compression ratios, which increases the energy one can get out of the combustion, using even less fuel. And to all those people who talk smack about alcohol having less energy then gasoline, [roughly half as much, which it technically does], since roughly 50% of the gasoline is not only not burned in the chamber, it ends up working against the engine by driving the piston down at the bottom of the stroke when it should be decelerating, which does damage to the bearings, you are actually LOSING power with unburned gasoline compared to completely burned acetone or alcohol. The only exception to this statement is the dry vapor type updraft carburetors they used to have before the oil industry got in there and got rid of them, there are ways of making a dry vapor carburetor for a modern high RPM engine, but it takes a skilled engineer to do it, and the alcohols and ketones are already usable with existing carburetors. Could you get more power and mileage from dry gasoline vapor than alcohols? You bet you can! Is it worth it? That is up to the individual to decide. Would I do it? Maybe. Right now I need to raise the compression in my engine before I can do that and I lack the money on hand for all the stuff I need to do for that at this point. If I ever do, I will post a detailed report and how-to on my channel.

I'm calling Bullshit on the heat theory. What turns the crankshaft in a pistonless engine? Let me guess cold fusion...
@DeliciousDeBlair7 жыл бұрын
When you get an education some day, if you have the mental ability to, then you shall understand. Until them your calling bullshit just means you like to spew bullshit and this is the only way you know how to since you lack the education or experience to discuss the topic like an adult, let alone a trained mechanical and chemical engineer. Nearly air breathing engines work basically the same way, be they rotary, oblique, crank-and-piston, turbine. The exceptions are nuclear and rocket engines which take up their own niches because one carries its own oxygen and one carries only fuel which is not reacted with oxygen. Fuel and oxygen from the air break the fuel down into gas and heat. This heat is shared with the temperature of the remaining air molecules causing them to expand, generating pressure, which acts upon a working load bearing surface, which develops force to do work such as moving a vehicle. This is not anything new, and there is nothing to dispute about anything I wrote. Calling long proven facts bullshit proves your asinine ignorance and willingness to troll an intelligent presentation for your own personal insecurity. I strongly suggest you grow up and get a life.
@DeliciousDeBlair7 жыл бұрын
Most of the light gases need more compression because their molar heat values are low and therefore upon combustion they fail to have enough left over heat to ignite their neighboring molecules of fuel at lower compression ratios where they are not so tightly bunched together for them to bounce off each other [and oxygen], and where heat is dissipated as radiation at to great an angle of dispersion before it can reach a neighboring molecule. Just like focusing the heat of the sun in a magnifying glass, you also focus the latent heat of the ambient air when you compress it, this is how diesels work as most of you already know, well it is true for all internal combustion engines that the higher your base heat, the less additional heat you need to initiate the combustion [read up on gas laws and thermodynamics if you do not get this part] but each multiple of atmospheric pressure you compress your mixture by, the heat of the mixture will go up by that amount. For instance, if you put 70 degree air in a cylinder and squeeze it down to 10% its original volume, you get 700 degree air, until you release the pressure, or until the heat dissipates into the surroundings. This is also the principle by which refrigeration systems work, only in the way of deliberately letting the gas cool before releasing it through controlled means to absorb heat... Just shave off some of the top of the cylinder so that the compression ratio increases [the top of the piston will protrude more, as will the rings, so do be careful not to do too much!] and reduce the available space within the combustion chamber and you will be able to run much lower flammability fuels with ease.
