People with social anxiety does not have this level of support and open minded people (i wish they did). And it's awful for the person suffering from sa because a lot of times it comes with depression too

@@stranger342 I mean kind of? It's revealed later that Ryo and Nijika are "filthy indoor types" and Ryo being a loner kinda finds Bocchi fun. Meanwhile Nijika had her own family trauma going on. So it's realistic in as much as the fact that Ryo and Nijika's experiences made them good and understanding people. The fact that Kita is so understanding is less plausible, however we could chalk it up to the fact that Bocchi's her teacher and so Kita has something to admire in our lovable socially anxious girl!

4:06 Just some fun fact I just wanna throw: Author is a huge Ajikan fan (Asian Kung-Fu Generation) If you know Naruto, FMA, Bleach, and Erased, then you've probably heard their songs before. Blood Circulator and Haruka Kanata (Naruto) After Dark (Bleach) Re:Re (Erased) Rewrite (FMA) just to name a few. It seems like Author-chan took a lot of inspiration from them and even named the main characters after Ajikan's members. Their birthdays are the same too! But reversed. Hitori Gotoh 2/21 = Masafumi Gotoh 12/2 Ikuyo Kita 4/21 = Kensuke Kita 1/24 Ryo Yamada 9/18 = Takahiro Yamada 8/19 Nijika Ijichi 5/29 = Kiyoshi Ijichi 9/25 The episode titles in the anime are also references to their songs too. Now what's interesting is that they have the same role and all play the same instrument, except for Bocchi and Kita. Ajikan's Gotoh is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitar while Kita is the lead guitarist and backing singer. This gives us hope that someday they might swap role for a gig to show not only Bocchi overcoming her social anxiety but also Kita's growth as a guitarist.

The series just keeps getting better the more it goes on, and there's no stop it's one of those perfect pieces of anime and watch the internal monologues by Bocchi as the animation department just went wild. Still my favourite comes when they make a board game figure of Bocchi for a 3 second joke that most will miss lmao.

Gonna copy paste my own comment here but still wanna get it out there as much as possible: There's this small scene at the beginning of this episode (actually 2 scenes) where Bocchi tries to go into the club alone but hesitates because there isn't anyone else with her at the moment (and she is afraid about the reaction of the people inside), and that could honestly just be a scene out of my life. It has gotten a lot better over the years, but even now when I go to some kind of event or place I haven't been before, I actually cannot (not don't, but literally CAN not) feel completely safe unless I 100% know I am exactly where I'm supposed to be, and even then it's still hard af if I've never been there before. That could be like an exam site for further education I take for my job, that could be some kind of restaurant or other establishment where I meet up with someone (maybe even a friend), that could literally be anything, but if I am not 100% comfortable, I WILL hesitate to enter and question myself what the hell I am doing, unless there's some kind of link that I can associate with me being in the right place, for example I see another person I know that is headed to the same destination as me. I don't even want to do it, and I do it way less frequently than, say, 5-6 years ago, but sometimes I actually just can't help myself but fall back into this kind of stuff. The way this show portrays this so nonchalantly and in such an understated way in that scene here is honestly just incredible character writing to me, that they can make me resonate with the MC so much for something so... simple

It was one of the most relatable displays of social anxiety I've ever seen in any medium. Not just hesitating to go in, but hearing Hitori negotiate with herself how long she should wait so that it doesn't look weird that she's sitting there, that she didn't want to walk in like she owned the place, etc. It's by far my favorite scene in the anime, even factoring in the more hyped moments that happen later on, just because of how relatable and well done it is. For any extroverts or people without anxiety, yes, that's sometimes how the brain of anxious people actually operates in what looks like the most mundane of situations lol.

@@profoundity I wouldn't go so far as calling it my favorite scene in the anime, even though I wrote this small essay about it, but it is pretty high up; because the show 100% UNDERSTANDS the characters it wants to portray, and especially HOW it feels to be afflicted with this kind of thing. And it constantly keeps doing it over and over again without overstating it. As for my favorites, we'll get to that once these particular episodes reactions' will be out ^^

Bocchi is way too fuckin' relatable bruh. I got insane social anxiety, irl I will not say a word, online I'm a completely different person, I even interact differently with family when online, when playing games and such with them I'm the loudest person in the group, irl you wouldn't even realise I was there unless someone tells you. But god damnit Bocchi has already gotten further in 2 episodes than I have in 6 years, she's working a job, furthest I've gotten is a meeting. I'ma have to watch this anime on my own, haven't really been bothered to watch it but these reactions are just too good.

One thing I like with slice of life animes like this (and Yuru camp, Shikimori etc) is the portrayal of actual real good friends. They might have their issues and they are not perfect humans, misunderstandings can happen, but in the end they got your back, never are intentionally mean and they just want the best for each other.

Late to the party here, but the translation for the title of the video seen at about 5:40 is actually pretty good. Of course they substituted English Internet slang for Japanese Internet slang, but that's one of the reasons it's a decent translation of the Japanese. For example the letter "w" is laughter (short for the Japanese word "warau") so a bunch of "w" letters would be very close to a bunch of lmao expressions.
