I have three younger brothers and we're all blind. We try to live our life to change societies expectations of what a blind man can do. I play video games professionally and have a fairly decent amateur mixed martial arts career. Devices like these would be amazing but they're to expensive and my family got the shirt stick in terms of financial stability. We've been homeless here and there and are currently living with family members. I've thought about starting a crowd funding campaign to raise money to get my younger brothers something like one of these devices.

Just recently found your you tube channel and i have enjoyed watching some of the videos. This one was of particular interest to me as I have been using glasses with a scope mounted in them for the past 30+ years and they remained basically unchanged in all that time. The digital magnification has been of interest to me but as has been pointed out most of the ones I have seen cover too much of your face. I use my glasses with monolcular at work to see presentations in meetings, when I go to sporting events, and when I attend theater shows. I will definitely check SeeBOOST out as I am needing a bigger field of view then the traditional monocular can give me and also the ability to change the magnification level. Thanks for the videos!

Just wanted to say with this device, the beard and the skul and crossbones shirt, you look like a bionic pirate, in the absolute best way. It is awesome. I can see well on the computer in a controlled lighting environment (out and about it is a different story, because light in my eyes past the very lowest levels makes me ill and when i can't control it i have to block it all so i am functionally total)

I want a device like that for outdoor use such as bicycling and kayaking. Unfortunately for me my eyes are very sensitive to light and glare, so I always wear sunglasses and a hat when I’m outdoors. Do you know if they’ve considered any adaptation that would reduce light and glare?

That's pretty cool. Kinda like an electronic bioptic, sort of. I like the magnetic power coupler and the small form factor. Much more affordable, and lighter, than the eSight. One thing I often wonder is what's the actual refresh rate of the display from the incoming video being captured. I'm a big camera geek, hence my name, and notice cameras are getting better at upping their refresh rate as to not have a noticeable lag in the video. Being a "VIP" member myself, love that acronym BTW, I am curious to see how this product matures.
@theblindlife
@theblindlife 7 жыл бұрын
+LEXPIX I didn't see any noticeable lag however it did have a slight yellow tint to the image. They did say that they were planning on changing some aspects of the camera and screen to correct that.

Thanks Sam, very interesting! I I was going to ask you some questions but as I was writing, I realised that I had way too many of them :-) So I just sent the developers an e-mail! Curious to find out if it is something for my complicated condition. I'll let you know if they answer, if you are interested. Thanks and many greetings!

Hey Sam that is pretty nice yeah it's a lot less intrusive than the other Gadget you showed the Eastside digital glasses which pretty much covers about half your face. It would be neat if I could wear something like that which would eliminate the use of binoculars and probably even the use of cctvs all together . But I don't think this device is compatible with me since it covers one eye it would probably require you to have the other eye for normal viewing which I do not have remember I'm completely blind in my right eye so my left eye is the only guy that actually still has some remaining vision so with this device I would be totally obstructed because I can't use my right eye. And of course my left eye is also semi blind since I almost have no peripheral vision so the only weighs if I put this thing on it would be the only thing that I could see through.

Will this device correct my vision so that I can see better while driving? ....or help me in passing the vision test for driving? Sam..I have learned more from you than my retina specialist, thank you very much...
@bluetech7753
@bluetech7753 7 жыл бұрын
Angelina Mastrasngelo you know something you mentioned learning more from Sam than your retina specialist, I wonder why eye doctors opthamologist in general aren't very helpful when it comes to helping you with assistive technology or even solace give you a referral to get Mobility training eye doctors are not very helpful in these areas I wonder why.

Thank you very much for those kind words! As far as this device helping you with driving, I'm not sure about that. That would definitely be a question you could address with the Developers. My thoughts are that it's probably not recommended. However I could see the argument that it's really no different than a pair of bioptic glasses that you would use to help you drive. Interesting question for sure!
@theblindlife
@theblindlife 7 жыл бұрын
Also it's funny you mentioned that about the doctors because I was just speaking with another low vision specialist this morning and we were talking about that very thing. Discussing how most doctors seem to not have the time to talk about what happens after treatment. In particular, how to live with the vision impairment. The gentleman and I was speaking with has recently started a campaign regarding that very thing. I'll have more information on my Channel about that soon!

How well will they work at night? I would hope that they are waterproof? It would be nice if there was a way to create a pair of glasses with the persons prescription but design the lenses so a person can't see any of the working parts but the glasses would look like any other glasses but with a flip of a switch the inside part of the glasses would light up like a screen and the person could see what was in front of their face but people on the outside would not see anything other than the person's eyes and would never know the difference? It would have to be kind of like that technology that when power is added or taken away from the glass the glasses get dark and hard to see through but it would have to be designed so that when there is no power the glasses would work like intended but when you turn the power on the glasses light up like what you are showing but the entire inside of the lense would light up giving you more coverage? The cameras could be embedded into the frames of the glasses and at the back of the arm would be a cord that could just magnetically connect and then you could use a controller or even your Android or iPhone? That would really be nice???

Does this company do in home demo's? Do they do demo's at all? I'm in california and would love to demo this product. I'm an attorney - criminal defense lawyer - and I would love a device that can help me read documents quickly in court without freaking people out by having a HUGE device on my face. I'd really also love to just sit and read a book again. Any thoughts on this device or others?

I wish there could be something offered that doesn't have to be catered to ones prescription, ie very similar to this but detachable. That's what ultimately turned me away from devices like eSight and Nueyes. It's not worth taking a large financial gamble should your prescription change.
@theblindlife
@theblindlife 7 жыл бұрын
+FantasticWhit84 that's a very good point. I wish I had thought of that while I was talking to the Developers! I would have asked them what they would offer users for when their prescriptions change. Perhaps a small charge to mount the hardware on to the new glasses?
@seeboost9498
@seeboost9498 6 жыл бұрын
seeBOOST here! If your prescription changes, it is a simple (and free) lens change that can be done in about a day. Your prescription generally will not change day-to-day, but gradually over time. As Sam said, we just make a quick lens change and re-mount the hardware.
