These are great guide videos. In SE Iowa if I don't grow and offer Jet Star I'm in trouble. Gardeners down her are also impressed with the popular Dwarf's like Rosella Purple so I'm filling the word-of-mouth demand.

I love heirlooms, but Jet Star has amazing production. I now like Big Beef better because it produces as well or better and is early and tastes better than some heirlooms. A winner!

@@kprairiesun we are trying Jet Star again for the first time in about 10 years. Looking forward to trialing it again.

Yes, I love pink tomatoes! Caspian Pink, Delicious, Giant Belgium Pink, Brandy Boy, any pink. My two favorites are Classic Beefsteak, Amish Paste, grape tomato. Plant growth was poor when i tried to grow Sungold, Sun sugar, Chocolate Cherry, Isis Candy, Napa Chardonnay Blush, Big Daddy, Millionaire, Mortgage Lifter, Black Krim, yellow pear and others that just hardly grew, hardly produced, died off, etc. I wont grow any of those again.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Those pinks are so delicious. Like you somethings grow better than others in different years. Weather can make a big difference. Yellow pear has always produced for us, but they taste terrible. It will be fun to see what does great this year.

I love growing and eating Tomato's so I loved your video commenting on the different Tomato's varieties I grow between 50-75 a year and it was fun to hear your perspective and more about varieties I have not tried. . Please keep doing this or even updates of how they performed in your garden each year. Would love to see actual tomato's you have harvested.

So great to see Amanda in this video!! I order 17 varieties of tomato seeds this year. It’s not 71, but it is a lot for me!

Great video! I love that both of you are giving input. The white ribbon graphic and the pictures of the tomatoes are extremely helpful. Thank you! I am a first-time home vegetable gardener in SE Iowa, zone 5b. What part of Iowa do you live in? I just subscribed to your channel after watching this video--the first one of yours I have watched--and will look forward to watching more of your videos.

I grew only one variety this year from Seed Savers Exchange called "Earliana". I was hoping to hear your commentary on it. Have you ever grown it?

Couple of years ago, i grew one red currant tomato. I hated it, because had so many huge, leafy branches that grew really tall and sprawled all over the grden bed and paths vetween and was falling over. No supports or cages could hold it. Picking tiny tomatowasnt worth it. I abandoned it.
@iowabackyardfarmer29529 ай бұрын
We grew it a couple years ago. It was very tasty but took over the whole garden. We have limited space so won't be growing it again.
